We’re searching for a Student Pastor

FBCW is searching for a relational and development-driven Student Pastor who is passionate about seeing middle school and high school students discover, celebrate, apply, and extend the gospel in the greater Woodbridge community and beyond. This role involves investing and developing leaders to meet students’ needs and foster their spiritual growth, leading at mid-week Momentum, discipling students in their faith journey, and placing intentional effort in reaching and connecting with students in the community for Christ. Reporting to the Executive Pastor, the Student Pastor will serve as a member of the Ministry Lead Team working collaboratively with other pastors and ministry directors in providing spiritual leadership.


Student Ministry (Grades 7-12)

Our mission is that all students DISCOVER who God is, how much He loves them, and that He has a plan for their lives. We strive to partner with parents and students to equip and encourage them to DEEPEN their relationship with Jesus, to DO acts of service to bring God glory, and to be a DISCIPLE who makes disciples.


Student Ministry of 285 students in grades 7-12 plus leaders

●      Bible Fellowship Groups (BFGs) | Our students meet on Sunday mornings (on-campus) and evenings (off-campus in homes) for a time of fellowship and study, led by a team of incredible adult leaders.

●      Mid-Week Momentum | On Wednesday evenings in the Student Center, students gather for a time of worship through singing led by the student worship team, and a message from God's word. This is a great time for students to pause in the middle of the week to focus their hearts on God by worshiping alongside their peers and being mentored by adult leaders in small group discussion.

  

Primary Responsibilities Include:

1.     Deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ, unquestionable character and integrity with a demonstrable vital and growing walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and giving.

2.     Lead ministry to students (7th–12th grades) and their families in alignment with the mission and vision of the church.

3.     Enlist, lead and oversee all student ministry adult volunteers. This includes vetting and training new leaders to effectively minister to students as well as managing, shepherding, and empowering new and veteran volunteer leaders as they serve.

4.     Intentionally build lasting relationships with students, parents, staff, and volunteers on a regular basis outside of regular programming. This often includes fellowshipping and interacting with students and families outside of the FBCW campus.

5.     Connect with parents of students on a regular basis in planned and unplanned gatherings.

6.     Plan, organize, and implement student events such as camps, retreats, mission trips, service projects, etc. that align with the mission and vision of FBCW.

7.     Faithfully teach and preach God’s word to students weekly at mid-week Momentum.

8.     Provide leadership and oversight to the student ministry worship team.

9.     Select (or develop) and implement biblical curriculum for students’ Bible Fellowship Groups, sermon series, etc.

10. Mentor and disciple 2-3 students throughout each semester.

11. Provide pastoral care for students and/or parents of students.

12. Coordinate, cooperate, and work with various ministry leaders and staff members, especially with the Ministry Lead Team.

13. Collaborate with the Executive Pastor on ministry planning and budget management.

14. Plan an annual ministry calendar for discipleship and events as well as the accompanying annual budget.

15. Employ biblical principles in the management of all resources (personnel, budget, office materials, etc.).


Qualifications You Bring:

1.     A commitment to the inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of Scripture for both faith and practice.

2.     Full agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000.

3.     A growing relationship with Jesus Christ that meets and emulates the spiritual qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9 so that your witness, example, service to others, and worship that is above reproach.

4.     An undergraduate degree is required – B.A. or B.S. degree in Christian Education, Christian Studies or a similar area with a focus on Youth Ministry is preferred.

5.     A master’s degree from an accredited SBC seminary (completed or in process) in Youth Ministry or Christian Education is preferred but not required.

6.     A proven track record of leading a student ministry successfully with a minimum of 3 years experience in similar-sized student ministry (or larger) is required.
