Position Overview:
The Student Associate plays a key role in supporting the youth ministry by building meaningful relationships with students and families, facilitating engaging weekly programming, and helping create a Christ-centered, welcoming environment for middle and high school students. This position serves as a direct assistant to the Youth Pastor and is responsible for both communication and program execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communication & Connection
- Send weekly emails to parents with updates, events, and encouragement
- Text and check in with students weekly to build relationships and encourage engagement
- Follow up with first-time visitors and students who’ve been absent
- Support and communicate with youth leaders and volunteers as needed
2. Weekly Programming
- Assist in planning and executing Wednesday night youth services, including:
- Game prep and hosting
- Organizing and leading small groups
- Preaching or assisting with the message as scheduled
- Prepare for and help lead Sunday morning youth (middle & high school):
- Teach/preach or facilitate group discussions
- Lead or oversee small group leaders
- Help coordinate curriculum if applicable
3. Sunday Morning Presence
- Connect with students before and after service
- Welcome new students and help them get plugged into the youth group
- Collaborate with youth and church staff to help integrate students into the broader church community
- Hold Sunday Youth Service
4. Leadership & Support
- Assist the Youth Pastor with administrative tasks and ministry planning
- Participate in regular team meetings and provide input on ministry direction
- Help with events, retreats, camps, and outreach efforts
5.Wednesday Night Presence
- Wednesday Night Setup/Take down
- Communicate with Manage Volunteers
- Connect with Students
- Preach Weekly Message
Ideal Candidate:
- A committed follower of Jesus with a passion for discipling students
- Strong communicator—both written (emails/texts) and verbal (teaching/preaching)
- Energetic, reliable, and self-motivated
- Comfortable engaging with students and parents
- Able to work collaboratively with ministry teams
- Spirit Filled
Preferred Experience:
- Previous youth ministry or leadership experience
- Teaching or small group facilitation
- Familiarity with youth culture and discipleship tools
