The Janitorial Engineer/Custodian serves in order to maintain the church facilities in a clean and acceptable environment. The position has principal duties and responsibilities that should be completed within the time frame allowed and as necessary to accommodate all functions and activities of the church and its facilities. Specific workdays are flexible and subject to change at the request of the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Custodial experience or training may be required.
3. Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.
4. Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
5. Flexibility to adjust their schedule to suit the needs of the church.
6. Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.
7. Must be able to display professional appearance and attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The JAnitorial Engineer/Custodian will be responsible for maintaining both the exterior and interior areas of the church edifice.
- All main entrances and walkways leading to all buildings shall be swept daily and church grounds shall be patrolled as daily to remove miscellaneous debris (paper, trash, small tree limbs, act). The grounds include the actual church building grounds and the church office, and other church properties when necessary.
- Lawn services to include but not limited to cutting and edging of lawn, trimming of hedges, clearing lawn and parking lot of leaves, clearing of flower beds as requested.
- The Main Kitchen and the gym shall be swept, and damp mopped as necessary. The floors shall be cleaned, and maintained and including waxed, and buffed as necessary to remove grease spots and /or scuff marks as necessary.
- The Gym, the gym corridors (upstairs and downstairs), library, fellowship/dining room and other miscellaneous areas shall be dusted and damped mopped daily and spray waxed and if needed buffed.
- Large and Small Restroom located in front and outside the Small Chapel shall be cleared and sanitized weekly, including providing ample supplies in each restroom (paper towels, tissue paper, soap, etc.).
- Downstairs and Upstairs Gym Restrooms shall be cleaned, sanitized, and damp mopped as necessary, including providing ample supplies (paper towels, tissue paper, soap, etc.)
- Monitoring of control devices (thermostats) of heating and cooling equipment to maintain a comfortable environment while facility is occupied. If problems persist report it immediately to the Building & Grounds Chairmen.
- The Janitorial Engineer and Custodian shall be familiar with locations of all heating/cooling, plumbing, and electrical equipment in facility in order to provide this
information to any perspective repairman on the site for repairs and secure all areas after repair work has been completed.
- At the close of each work day the entire premises shall be checked to make sure all areas are locked and secure before leaving for the day.
- Setup and Breakdown of Tables for events: Tables shall be set up within (1) day of any scheduled event(s) and broken down and stored within two (2) days after the scheduled event.
- Trash shall be removed from all trash containers in all areas of the church, church offices, and placed in the dumpster located at the rear of the gym. Trash containers shall be sanitized weekly.
- Shall assist in miscellaneous plumbing, electricity, paint, and carpentry work as designated by the Chairman of Building and Grounds Committee.
- Other duties as assigned.

Able to lift, push, and pull light to moderate loads. May occasionally do heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling.
