Position Title: Worship Band Leader

Supervisor: Director of Worship Arts (DWA)

Status: Part-Time (12-15 hrs/wk)

Compensation: $25-$30/hr

Summary: Zumbro Lutheran Church (ZLC) is looking for someone to lead worship at our small, but growing band-led worship service. This is a great opportunity for an experienced worship leader (singer, guitar player, or piano player) passionate about great, band-led worship to elevate the worship experience in a progressive theological setting.

Overview: The role of the Worship Band Leader is primarily responsible for advancing the vision and mission of Zumbro Lutheran Church by designing, creating, building, and leading band-led worship as a ministry whose purpose is to share the love of Jesus through music.

Responsibilities:

1. Passionately and collaboratively contribute to the creative envisioning and the detailed implementation of band-led worship (music selection, worship order, space design, lighting and screen design, and other worship content, etc.)
2. Select, arrange, and direct all musical offerings for worship services (Sunday at 10:30am every week with occasional midweek offerings in Advent, Lent, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.)
3. Serve as the lead musician and worship leader for band-led worship (10:30am Sundays and possibly expand to Wednesday evenings).
4. Coordinate and lead music/band rehearsals.
5. Actively recruit musicians for the whole of music ministry at Zumbro with emphasis on band-led worship and Youth Band.
6. Collaborate with DWA in regards to church music, hymnody, liturgy, contemporary resources, the liturgical calendar, festivals of the church, and the role of music in Lutheran worship.
7. Attend staff and worship planning meetings (flexible).

Qualifications:

1. A love and respect for people and a passion for being a team player.
2. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and an enthusiastic missional outlook for music’s role in a congregational setting.
3. Collaborative leadership skills to support the work of the worship team (staff and volunteers).
4. Previous experience leading a worship band.
5. Proficient with worship planning and production software (ProPresenter and Planning Center: Services), or willing and able to learn.
6. Passionate about creating and supporting meaningful worship experiences both in-person and online that are reflective of the Lutheran theological perspective and/or a progressive and inclusive theological perspective.
