Position: Operations Pastor of Beach Church, Inc.
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Member of: Senior Ministry Team; Leadership Board
Purpose Statement:
- Proactively and collaboratively lead an execution team responsible for advancing the innovative & transformational mission of Beach Church through operational excellence.
- Assist in achieving long-term goals by ensuring that daily operations and financial performance are fully aligned with overall goals and strategies of the Church.
Responsibilities:
Executive Leadership – Strategic and influential Senior Ministry Team member focused on helping to develop and drive the Church’s growth and mission advancement. Unique contributions include:
- Working with Lead Pastor to implement strategic plans, managing processes that ensure alignment, and creating/monitoring measures of performance (key performance indicators)
- Setting organization-wide policies and initiatives that promote Church’s mission, vision, and culture, while minimizing risk.
- Serving as a voting member on the Leadership Board of Beach Church, Inc.
Facility Leadership – Leader skilled in resource utilization, time management and delegation to ensure maintenance of the facilities, including safety and security of campus by:
- Maintaining regularly scheduled maintenance and replacement on HVAC units, Lite Safety equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, and outside lighting of exterior campus including 7 North. Ensuring all outside lighting is scheduled appropriately with safety of our people as the primary driver.
- Providing timely inspections of all fire safety equipment, elevators, and kitchen inspections, executing corrective action and documentation, as needed.
- Attending all Fire Inspections with Fire Marshall.
- Ensuring doors, locks, and gates are operational and secure; security codes on doors are changed periodically; and campus is accessible appropriately (both day and night).
- Building a security team empowered to ensure the safety and security of all men, women, and children while on campus including Sundays for all worship services and Beach Kids events.
- Developing a comprehensive plan for replacement of major equipment on campus.
- Maintain the grounds (grass cut, limbs trimmed, all safety hazards/issues addressed timely).
Financial Leadership – Analytical and fiscally-responsible consultative leader tasked as the driving force behind the financial wellbeing of the Church, the mission, and all stakeholders.
- Serving as the leader and main liaison to both the board and the staff, collaborating with both to develop and implement capital fund campaigns, selling of property, or re-financing of loans, and proactively leading any special projects that fall under the Operations umbrella.
- Orchestrating the work of the Finance Department - charged with deeper analysis on contributions trends, debt service, financial programs, and the budgeting process.
- Providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and trends to assist management’s informed decision-making processes.
- Oversee the annual budget including staff raises, auditing process, and Leadership Board approval of budget.
- Supporting the Lead Pastor in the creation and execution of a cohesive generosity strategy.
Human Resource Leadership –Savvy and skillful operational leader focused on continual improvement, driving the mission’s objectives in all facets of the Church:
- Responsible for direct oversight of Finance Director, Assistant Finance Director, IT Director, Operations Admin, Facilities Director, Early Learning Center Director and staff, and custodian.
- Support Beach Church as the Human Resources advisor, responsible for proactively addressing staff needs.
- Manage staff vacancy process from initial recruitment through the onboarding process to include updated job description, timeline and individual expectations, interview process, established salary range and benefits, as well as effectively communicating with internal and external partners.
- Oversee Onboarding process for new hires captured in Base Camp software for all staff.
- Schedule and document a 30-day, 60-day and 90-day check-in to provide guidance and facilitate additional resources or tools as necessary.
- Provide health insurance options and retirement benefits for all staff as well as workers compensation benefits.
- Facilitate an annual review process for all staff; ensure Lead Pastor receives timely recommendations from Senior ministry team for merit increases, as appropriate.
- Create a committee for grievances and/or conflict resolution assistance within staff, with the agreement of the Leadership Board.
Public Affairs Leadership – This function deals with legal topics, public relations, compliance and policies. Leader skilled in public speaking and articulating policies and legal issues that drive the mission’s objectives in all facets of the Church:
- Work with Leadership concerning legal or insurance issues including:
- Communicating legal concerns/state of affairs to the Leadership Board.
- Providing timely and accurate filing of all legal papers and insurance payments to protect the liability of the Church.
- Serving the Church by securing carriers for health, personal liability, property liability, bonding on officers, and volunteer coverage.
- Developing a legal team that the Church can call on to handle any legal matters that might arise.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree within a business discipline; an MBA or graduate degree preferred.
- 10 years of management experience in high growth or medium sized organizations, with a demonstrated understanding of financial theories and principles required.
- Ability to strategically plan and serve as a catalyst for organizational change, cultivate a shared vision with others, and motivate others to transfer vision into action.
- Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills-both verbal and written.

Work Schedule:
Full-time position working 40+ hours a week, with weekend and night responsibilities required.
