Summary

We are seeking a growing, faithful, Christ-following leader to join us in ministering to the kids, youth and families at Black Forest Lutheran Church. At this time, this position will have a primary focus on youth ministry with secondary ministry opportunities in other areas (see below). This position will also focus on providing the intern with opportunities for personal discipleship, ministry experience, and leadership development.

 

Pay Rate and Hours:

15-25 hours/week, 1 year commitment (potentially renewable)

$17-19/hour (depending on qualifications)

 

Job Objectives:

·      To train up and engage more leaders in doing the work of the ministry and building up the body of Christ at BFLC (Eph. 4:12)

·      To continue teaching and discipling our youth/kids at BFLC as our ministry grows

·      To continue to implement a relationally-oriented youth ministry with the growing amount of youth and kids at BFLC

 

Primary Responsibilities

·      Assist Youth & Family Director with weekly youth ministries (primarily Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings)

·      Work with Youth & Family Director to develop regular youth service, outreach, and fellowship events (Plan and execute)

·      Meet Weekly with Youth & Family Director for planning and mentorship and 1 or 2x monthly with church staff

·      Relationally connect with students/families inside & outside church as opportunities arise (student/family visits, sporting/extracurricular events, school Christian clubs)

 

Other Ministry Responsibilities (depending on ministry interest)

·      Assist in Sunday School and Wiggle Worship ministries (elementary age)

·      Assist in developing Young Adult Ministry (college students/young professionals)

·      Assist in other areas of church ministry and events


Qualifications

·      A committed and growing faith in Jesus

·      A desire and gifting to shepherd and disciple Middle School and High School Youth

·      A team player

·      Able to teach the Bible in small to medium-sized group settings (mentorship in this available)

·      Willingness to serve where and how needed

·      Familiarity with Lutheran theology/traditions and/or willing to learn (i.e. Baptism, Holy Communion, Apostle’s Creed, Lord’s Prayer and worship liturgy from a Lutheran perspective)
