GENERAL STATEMENT:
The pastor is the spiritual leader of the church and shall assume all such responsibilities necessary for leading the ministry of First Baptist Church. He shall provide administrative leadership by supervising other church staff members and shall be responsible for overseeing the entire church program.
SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation
2. Proclaim the gospel
3. Train and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and
community;
4. Maintain a strong emphasis on mission involvement
5. Plan, co-ordinate and lead the congregational services
6. Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the church ordinances.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervision of church staff members
a.) Plan and conduct weekly staff meetings
b.) Communicate effectively and regularly with all staff members concerning
the fulfillment
of their responsibilities and the total church ministries and activities
c.) The entire church staff will meet together quarterly for the purpose of
enhancement and fulfillment of the entire church program.
2. Schedule and plan church council meetings and serve as chairman of church
council
3. Serve as moderator of the church
4. Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees
5. Counsel with and assist in training deacons for their responsibilities
6. Participate and promote in associational, state and convention activities.
PASTORAL CARE:
1. Visitation of those hospitalized by injury or illness;
2. Visitation in the homes of those members, who have special needs, such as the
loss of a loved one, strained family relationship(s), particular personal
problems, etc.
3. Counseling in the church office or at home with those seeking salvation and
those of the church membership and others planning a marriage and wedding
ceremony, experiencing personal or domestic problems, contemplating a
decision, etc.;
4. Conducting such services as wedding ceremonies and funeral rites; 5. Lead in
ministry of outreach
5. Provide leadership to establish an effective counseling ministry, using church
staff and volunteers.
