Chief Financial Officer

Title: Chief Financial Officer 

Status: Full Time, Central Office Based 

Availability: Immediate Until Filled 

Job Location: The Baptist Building, Springfield, Illinois 

 

The Chief Financial Officer works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and provides leadership in the following areas:  

 

  1. Daily transactions activity, to include entry, receipting, posting, and reconciliation.  
  2. Actuation and reconciliation of funds across multiple accounts.  
  3. Management of financial vendor relationships, to include Back Office service.  
  4. Preparation and management of an annual financial audit.  
  5. Preparation and management of tax forms for clients (i.e. 1099s) and split interest and non-taxable and taxable trusts (5227, 1041).  
  6. Maintenance and reconciliation of all general ledger and sub ledger accounts in support of the activities noted above.  
  7. Preparation of regular financial management documents and reports.  
  8. Assist in policy setting regarding investments, monitor the implementation of such policy, and ensure congruence between the policy and implementation.  
  9. Assist in the annual preparation of the operating budget. 
  10. Other related duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements:  

 

  1. Member in good standing in a Christian Church, member of an Illinois Baptist State Association Church preferred. 
  2. Personal philosophy consistent with BFI Mission Statement as noted below:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
  2. CPA license preferred. 
  3. Excellent digital management skills, to include Microsoft Suite and modern electronic communication.  
  4. Work ethic that is self initiating.  
  5. Ability to thrive in a small team environment.  

 

Compensation: 

 

  1. Salary $70,000-$90,000 depending on experience and salary history.  
  2. Benefit package to include paid vacation, retirement (10% of salary), life insurance, and health insurance and/or supplement.
