Purpose of the Position

The Associate Pastor of Students & Missions provides pastoral leadership to the student ministry (middle school through college) while cultivating a church-wide culture of missions. This role disciples the next generation, equips volunteers, and organizes strategic mission efforts through local outreach, ministry partnerships, and short-term mission trips.

Primary Responsibilities

Student Ministry Leadership

•      Teach and disciple students through biblically faithful instruction and relational investment.

•      Develop a clear discipleship pathway that fosters spiritual maturity and Gospel-centered living.

•      Lead weekly gatherings, Bible studies, retreats, and camps.

•      Partner and counsel with parents as primary disciplers of their children.

•      Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders.

•      Integrate students into the broader life of the church.

Missions Leadership & Mobilization

•      Develop and oversee a comprehensive missions strategy aligned with the church’s vision.

•      Organize local service projects and outreach initiatives.

•      Maintain relationships with mission partners.

•      Plan and/or lead short-term mission trips.

•      Coordinate and deploy volunteer teams from within the church.

•      Communicate opportunities and testimonies that cultivate a culture of sending.

•      Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders.

Leadership & Administration

•      Develop ministry plans, goals, budgets, and participate in church council.

•      Equip and multiply leaders for both student ministry and missions.

•      Work collaboratively with church staff to ensure unity of vision.

•      Evaluate effectiveness and provide ongoing direction.

Qualifications

•      Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).

•      Demonstrates a calling to student discipleship and missions.

•      Strong teaching, leadership, and organizational skills.

•      Theologically aligned with the church’s doctrine.

•      Ministry experience preferred; theological training from a Southern Baptist institution required.

•      Lead with humility, initiative, and a shepherd’s heart.

•      Other duties as assigned from the Senior Pastor.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Senior Pastor and serves alongside the pastoral staff.
