Accompanist

Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, located at 6365 Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay has an immediate opening for a part-time accompanist for our traditional worship service.

Job Description: The Accompanist will provide piano accompaniment with choir and director for rehearsals, concerts, special and regular worship services.  Rehearsals on Thursdays 7 - 8:30 p.m. and Sunday service at 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.; 3 times a month. Choir does not perform in the summer months.

Position may accompany the contemporary worship team if interested; especially during the summer months.

Duties as Assigned:

·      Accompany any church choral groups, as directed.

·      Accompany choral groups at rehearsals, as directed.

·      Play at scheduled worship services.

·      Substitute on the piano to lead the service for agreed upon dates.

·      Play at special events, as directed. 

·      Arrive on time prepared for rehearsals and worship services.

Minimum Qualifications:

·      Piano proficiency.

·      Ability to play hymns, service music, and special music of moderate difficulty.

·      Ability to read and perform syncopated rhythms with accuracy.

·      Ability to work collaboratively with others.

·      Possess good organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Ability to sight read and improvisatory abilities.

·      Piano skills necessary.

Education/Experience:

·      Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by private or college-level training in piano and music theory.

·      Two years of experience as an accompanist, preferred, but not required.

Compensation:

This is a part-time hourly position, approximately 5-8 hours per week at $30/hr.

Lutheran Church of the Resurrection was established by Pastor John Moren and 63 charter members in 1963 when there were still more sheep than people in Granite Bay. Since then we've grown to over 700 members, 100's of ministries and constant outreach thriving on 6 acres in the heart of town. We're known by our energetic worship, moving outreach, and deep relationships. Resurrection is a church that's small enough to care about each other, but big enough to dare to make a difference. With 5 large buildings, outdoor gathering space, a community soccer field, 1/2 mile prayer walk, labyrinth walk, playground, and 9 classrooms, Resurrection is a prime location for God's will.
