Position Objective
Provide and maintain an environment that supports guests in hearing the Word of God proclaimed by planning, coordinating, and carrying out the development, maintenance, and repair of BMCR’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and guest accommodations. All work is to be performed in alignment with the Philosophy and Extended Objectives of Blue Mountain Christian Retreat & Conference Center.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide preventative, routine, and general maintenance for all BMCR buildings, structures, accommodations, equipment, and grounds.
- Perform repairs as assigned by the Facilities Manager or reported by other departments to ensure safe and efficient operation of buildings and equipment.
- Follow maintenance systems and schedules established by the Facilities Manager, including but not limited to landscaping, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, flooring, automotive repair, and special projects.
- Assist with scheduled and contracted maintenance for grounds and infrastructure systems (fuel, water, sewer, trash removal, etc.).
- Maintain the expected standard of quality, safety, stewardship, and cost-effectiveness for all repair and replacement projects.
- Replace or update inoperable building materials, equipment, and machinery to meet the physical and recreational needs of guests.
- Work cooperatively with the maintenance team and any contracted professionals to complete projects effectively and on time.
- Communicate unit conditions, safety concerns, and repair needs with other departments (office, housekeeping, etc.).
- Maintain safe, organized storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, including fire, evacuation, or injury.
- Anticipate, understand, and respond courteously to guest needs while on the grounds.
- Complete all duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in a related maintenance or facilities field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Working knowledge of tools, power equipment, construction methods, and property maintenance practices.
- Ability to observe and address safety concerns involving staff or guests, enforcing or reporting issues as appropriate.
- Understanding of safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment.
- Willingness and ability to obtain required certifications related to the position.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven or hilly terrain.
- Frequent physical activity including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to access roofs, attics, crawlspaces, ladders, and scaffolding while safely using tools and equipment.
- Regular lifting and/or moving of up to 75 pounds.
