Houseparents

OVERVIEW 

To provide spiritual training, emotional development, educational opportunities and assistance, social and physical development, supervision and discipline for the residents. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Must have a high school degree or its equivalent. Married husband (male) and wife (female) couple with stable, supportive marriage. Age preference 28-55, maximum of two children. Must be able to accept and respect each child as an individual, demonstrate care and concern in a family-like atmosphere, have knowledge and understanding of child care, and have the ability to learn and grow on the job. This position requires a person of Christian character and integrity dedicated to serving the Lord and others. Must be an active member of an evangelical church and recommended by the pastor of that church. Sense of call to the child care ministry. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Daily devotions, church attendance, Christian witness and role model. 
• Function as a member of the program team. 
• Available for counseling and provide emotional support. 
• Promote and model good health, diet, personal hygiene, rest, proper dress and exercise. 
• Demonstrate positive attitude regarding education and all related activities through daily involvement with homework, test preparation, tutoring and educational goals. 
• Take initiative for day to day supervision, discipline and guidance of residents as established by the program team. 
• Maintain clean, safe, comfortable environment in the cottage, its surroundings and the cottage vehicle. 
• Promote social skills through on and off campus activities. 
• Participate in continuing child care education through staff meetings, workshops, in-service training, personal study and self-evaluation. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

RELATIONSHIP 

Work under the direct supervision of the Program Director or Vice President of Residential Care. Responsible to the general supervision of the Vice President of Residential Care.
