Overview
Chapel of the Lake is seeking an experienced, dynamic and visionary Senior Pastor to join our church family at the center of one of the fastest growing areas in Missouri.
Responsibilities would include preaching/teaching, discipleship, shepherding, leadership and mentoring. We desire for all our congregation to be engaged in Jesus’ mission to make disciples, as we proclaim Christ, pursue Christ, and practice His love.

Candidate Position Qualifications/Requirements
Personal:
- Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and healthy family life.
- Has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
- Possesses a shepherd’s heart and communicates, motivates, and relates well with a multigenerational congregation.
Education/Experience:
- Possesses a strong biblical and theological background which agrees with COTL’s vision, beliefs, and distinctives. Post-graduate level theological training is preferred.
- Has 10+ years of pastoral or comparable ministry experience.
Ministry:
- Preaching/Teaching – Is an effective teacher. He should preach expositorily with sermons designed to challenge, encourage and exhort the congregation to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to apply biblical truths to their lives in meaningful and active ways.
- Discipleship – Understands and clearly communicates the discipleship process and is committed to mentoring, modeling and facilitating the lifelong growth in Christ of church attendees.
- Develops individuals and small groups to become actively engaged in the discipleship process.
Leadership:
- Demonstrates effective leadership skills such as leading by example and providing appropriate support for delegated duties.
- Demonstrates maturity and responsibility in decision making and work ethic.
Administration:
- Mentors/coaches staff.
- Demonstrates an appreciation for the value of and a commitment to perform and/or provide oversight for administrative tasks.
Senior Pastor Responsibilities
Demonstrate leadership and ownership of the total mission and body of COTL by
- Loving and caring for the flock and demonstrating a personal commitment to their spiritual growth and well-being.
- Providing vision and equipping the congregation to reach our community with the gospel.
- Participating in the worship service on a regular basis by preaching, praying, and leading in communion as needed.
- Demonstrating an interest and general knowledge, and where appropriate, involvement in the various ministries of the church.
- Participating in counseling individuals and couples as needed.
- Supervising the Pastoral and Chapel Staff.
- Providing oversight for the administration of the church programs.
- Officiating at marriages and memorial services as necessary.
- Conducting other pastoral activities as necessary.
Discipleship Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate a process of discipleship that effectively moves people towards maturity.
- Work directly with the Home Group coordinator and Sunday School Superintendent to maximize the effectiveness of those ministries in the disciple making process.
- Organize and coordinate a broad spectrum of COTL ministries to participate in and enhance the disciple making process.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is $90k-$115k, with additional insurance/leave benefits and 401k.
