Administrative Assistant (Part-Time)
New Bridges United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the pastor, church leaders, and daily church operations. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment, coordinating worship and ministry logistics, managing communications and records, and helping the church function efficiently and effectively.
Position Details
- Part-Time: 15–20 hours per week
- Compensation: $22–$27/hour depending on experience and qualifications
- Reports To: Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)
- Location: Alameda, California
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the pastor and ministry leaders.
- Create a warm, hospitable, and organized church office environment.
- Prepare worship materials including bulletins, slides, schedules, and volunteer coordination.
- Maintain church calendars, meeting schedules, facility use, rental inquiries and Zoom coordination.
- Manage church communications including email, phone calls, mailings, and website updates.
- Maintain membership records, directories, and church databases through a dedicated software (training provided during onboarding).
- Assist with reports, and church records including baptisms, weddings, and memorial services.
- Coordinate office, ministry, and worship supplies.
- Support livestreaming or technical needs for worship services as needed.
- Assist with outreach events, publications, and special church activities.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
- Friendly, collaborative, and service-oriented attitude
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, databases, and online tools
- Experience in administrative support preferred
- Familiarity with church or faith community culture preferred
