Job Description

Reports to Lead Pastor

Qualifications and Requirements

• A commitment to servant leadership (Mk. 10:45; Col. 3:23-24).
• A commitment to the biblical priority of congregational singing (Eph. 5:18-19; Col. 3:16).
• Administrative proficiency.
• Passion for community engagement and global gospel impact
• Mastery of at least one instrument and general knowledge of the fundamentals of other instruments. 
• An ability to coach and lead band rehearsals and other band members. 
• A humble, collaborative, and teachable spirit
• A member or willing and able to become a member of Elevation Church

Director of Worship and Outreach Responsibilities

Worship

• Coordination and Communication (1-2 hours per week)
• Coordinate weekly with the worship team to ensure seamless preparation and implementation for weekend services.
• Coordinate monthly and weekly with the Lead Pastor about church services, arrangements, and resources.
• Worship Preparation and Execution (6-8 hours per weekend, around 42 weekends per year)
• Implement worship playlists and Sunday morning set-lists
• Prepare playback, click tracks, and chart builder app for services
• Direct band rehearsals to achieve musical excellence, preparedness, and seamless transitions during services.
• Lead the musical elements during services
• Troubleshoot musical or technical issues in real-time to ensure smooth service execution.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training volunteer musicians
• Coaching and Development (2-3 hours per week)
• Mentor band members on musical skills, providing discipleship and care to foster growth and prevent burnout, aligning with Elevation’s disciple-making culture.
• Regularly assess worship team health, offering constructive feedback to enhance quality, cohesion, and alignment with Elevation's worship identity.
• Prayer and Worship Nights
• Work with the Lead Pastor to coordinate periodic Prayer and Worship Nights
• Set Worship Culture
• Work with Lead Pastor and Worship Team to develop and maintain healthy culture of worship at Elevation Church.

Outreach

• Lead church strategy and mobilization
• Will help Elevation Church engage its surrounding community and the world with intentionality. This includes developing a local outreach and missions strategy, helping identify meaningful community partnerships, resourcing lay leaders, and planning catalytic events that move the congregation into service.
• Provide oversight for Local Outreach and Missions
• Help identify, incubate, and scale new initiatives that bless and impact the city of Billings.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in local outreach and missions
• Stay informed on best practices, trends, and biblical foundations for local outreach and missions. They will provide leadership that equips staff, lay leaders, and members to integrate outreach into the life of the church.
• Cast vision through communication and storytelling
• This leader will inspire and galvanize the church to seek the joy of the city and the world through communication, storytelling, prayer, and regular vision casting. The role requires someone who can celebrate stories of God at work and help the congregation see local outreach as a natural expression of gospel discipleship.
• Develop leaders rather than simply manage programs
• The strongest candidate will view leader development as the primary path to long term impact. They will coach volunteers and staff, draw out the strengths of others, and resist the temptation to micromanage.
