YORK VALLEY CHURCH (YVC) is a non-denominational church body. We are committed to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provide a place of worship and praise for all people of all evangelical faiths and help each other grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Word. We are committed to provide witness and service to our community in a manner that glorifies God and encourages and strengthens each other.

York Valley is located in southeast Arizona, in Greenlee County. It is a rural unincorporated area, located between the towns of Clifton and Duncan. It is close to both mountains and rivers, and just a few miles from the New Mexico state line. Greenlee County is unique in that it is home to one of the largest copper mines in the world, owned by Freeport McMoran.

York Valley Church has been in the valley for 50 years and under current leadership/name/ affiliation for 8 years. YVC is seeking a pastor to exercise oversight of our local church and its ministries, as our current pastor is retiring in the Spring of 2026 after faithfully serving 7 years at YVC. As a growing church, we currently have around 35 regular attendees. We are seeking a man of God who can lead us to continue growing as we seek to be a light in our community.

Stipend

We will discuss the stipend with potential candidates at the time of an interview.

Housing

York Valley Church desires their pastor to reside in Greenlee County, in the vicinity of Morenci, Clifton, York Valley or Duncan. There are some different housing options available, the church may assist in obtaining housing for the selected candidate.

Job Overview

York Valley Church is seeking a pastor to exercise general oversight of our local church, its ministry, and functions. The pastor is responsible for the spiritual ministry and leadership of the church, and maintaining current worship structure.

THE PRIMARY DUTIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Responsibilities

Preaching and Teaching

Oversight of corporate worship each Sunday.

Preach Biblical, doctrinally sound sermons, preferably in an expositional manner.

Facilitate Adult Bible study on Sunday mornings.

Facilitate Wednesday night Bible Study.

Leadership

Lead the congregation in practical Christian life.

Provide Biblical counseling.

Provide direction and course of teaching and ministry.

Focus on the spiritual needs of the church.

Keep the church on a Biblical, Discipleship-driven focus.

Lead by example and be willing to be accountable.

Visit and pray over the sick.

Lead church business meetings and direct and lead others.

Provide counsel and encouragement to assist in the accomplishment of objectives for the church.

As elder, he will provide oversight, giving guidance and direction on the business and practical affairs of the church.

Manage and care for his household and family.

Qualifications

●The pastor must be the type of man depicted in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

● He should demonstrate a strong devotional and prayer life and a thorough understanding of the Scripture, commitment to its authority as the Word of God, and insight into its interpretation. (Titus 1:9)

● He should have a gift for preaching and demonstrate an ability to relate Biblical passages and the skill to oversee worship and preach the gospel. (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:9)

● He should demonstrate an obvious love for Christ and the gospel and a mature personal faith in the Triune God. As well as evidence of spiritual fruit in life. (1 Timothy 3:6; Titus 1:9)

● He should demonstrate understanding, skill, and compassion in caring for people and congregations. (1 Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:8)

● He should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of, and commitment to, sound doctrine. (Titus 1:9)

● He should be a strong encourager and lover of people.

● He should display energy and passion in the ministry along with a heart for disciple making and a growing vision for how to effectively make disciples in our community.

● He should demonstrate organizational skills to be able to keep all aspects of ministry clear and focused.

● He should have a heart towards reconciliation in conflicted relationships both personal and corporate.

● He should possess the creativity to envision new possibilities for the ministry of York Valley Church and community outreach.
