 Position Description: Associate Pastor to Families 

Role Overview 

The Associate Pastor to Families is a pastoral leadership role responsible for the spiritual formation, safety, and discipleship of children (Birth–5th Grade) and youth (6th–12th Grade). This position is designed for a shepherd-leader who can execute established ministry tracks while building sustainable systems for future growth. 

Status: Part-Time (Initial 15 hours/week) 

Trajectory: Anticipated progression to Full-Time status over the next 24–36 months. 

Core Schedule: Sunday (Morning Services) and Wednesday (Mid-week Programming). 


Pastoral Qualifications 

As this is a pastoral office, the candidate must meet the biblical qualifications of an Elder/Overseer as defined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. These include: 

Character: Above reproach, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, and hospitable. 

Teaching: Able to teach and defend sound doctrine. 

Leadership: A proven leader who manages his own household well; a lover of good, upright, and holy. 


Primary Responsibilities 

1. Children’s Ministry (Birth–5th Grade) 

● Oversee the weekly preparation and execution of the established curriculum, ensuring lessons are taught with theological clarity and age-appropriate engagement. 

● Serve as the primary resource expert for teachers, handling administrative prep (printing, supplies, digital access) to allow volunteers to focus on relationships. 

● Ensure all Sunday morning environments are safe and Gospel-centered, maintaining strict adherence to child protection policies and background checks. 


2. Youth Ministry (6th–12th Grade) 

● Lead and organize weekly Wednesday night gatherings focused on biblical teaching, worship, and community. 

● Recruit, train, and oversee adult volunteers to serve as mentors and small group leaders. 

● Plan periodic special events, such as retreats or mission trips, to foster deeper fellowship and service. 


3. Family Discipleship & Administration 

● Equip and encourage parents to be the primary disciple-makers in their children's lives. 

● Manage children and youth ministry budgets and resources effectively. 

● Participate in staff meetings and general pastoral duties (prayer, occasional preaching) as directed by the Lead Pastor. 

● Additional Responsibilities as directed by the Lead Pastor. 


Required Skills 

● Strong communication skills with both children and adults. 

● Organizational self-starter capability. 

● Theological alignment with our church's confession of faith.
