Associate Pastor

The Harbor Church in West Kingston, Rhode Island is currently in a steady season of experiencing significant growth in attendance, conversions, and baptisms. As we are seeking to continue our growth through a series of church plants, we are looking to add to our pastoral team.

Position Overview

We are looking for a person to join our current pastoral staff who aligns well with our vision, ministry philosophy, theology, and church culture. This person will have pastoral responsibilities such as preaching, teaching, and shepherding. As we go forward with our church planting vision, flexibility and adaptability will be essential to ensure that our current church maintains unity and stability while new church plants are launched and succeed. Our expectation is that this associate pastor position will develop to being a lead pastor of one of our church plants. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

Spiritual Qualifications

This person should have a consuming passion and desire to glorify God, a deep love for the church, and a heart for the lost.

• A heart to worship God.
• A deep and abiding love for and relationship with Jesus.
• A dependance on the filling, leading, and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
• A love for the Word of God.
• A caring shepherd’s heart for those inside and outside the church.

Primary Spiritual Gift-mix

Aside from a mindset of humility and servanthood, we are looking for a pastor who has spiritual gifts such as:

• Evangelism
• Leadership
• Preaching
• Teaching
• Shepherding
• Faith

Professional Experience Qualifications

In addition to being able to be part of a vibrant and unified pastoral team, this person is preferred to have the following qualifications:

• A two- or four-year Bible School degree and/or a M.Div. from an accredited seminary.
• Two to five years of internship, eldership, or pastoral experience.
• Church planting experience (preferred, but not necessary).
