Director of Children's Ministries

Location: Headland, Alabama

Position: Part-Time (20–25 Hours Per Week)

Salary: $25,000–$30,000 annually

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Headland Methodist Church exists to help people Know Jesus, Grow in Faith, and Go Make Disciples. We believe children are not simply the future of the Church—they are an essential part of the Church today.

We are looking for someone who loves Jesus, delights in children, and sees children's ministry as more than childcare. We are searching for a disciple-maker who will partner with families, build meaningful relationships, recruit volunteers, and create environments where children experience the love of Christ and begin a lifelong journey of following Him.

Position Summary

The Director of Children's Ministries will lead the discipleship of children from birth through fifth grade by creating safe, engaging, Christ-centered environments where children grow in their faith and families are equipped to continue that discipleship at home.

The successful candidate will build relationships with children and parents, invest in volunteers, oversee weekly ministry environments, and help children take intentional next steps in following Jesus Christ.

This is a ministry built on relationships—not simply programs.

Lead Children's Ministry

Provide leadership for:

• Sunday Morning Children's Church
• Wednesday Night Children's Ministry
• Vacation Bible School
• Seasonal Children's Events
• Family Ministry Opportunities
• Outreach and Community Engagement

Ensure every environment is:

• Biblically grounded
• Safe
• Fun
• Relational
• Age appropriate
• Christ-centered

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain ministry calendar.
• Communicate with families consistently.
• Manage children's ministry budget responsibly.
• Order curriculum and ministry supplies.
• Ensure classrooms remain welcoming, organized, and prepared.
• Maintain attendance and volunteer records.

The successful Children's Director will:

• Build meaningful relationships with children and parents.
• Create safe and welcoming ministry environments.
• Equip volunteers to lead confidently.
• Help children understand the Gospel in age-appropriate ways.
• Celebrate children's spiritual milestones.
• Partner with parents in making disciples at home.
• Raise up the next generation to know and follow Jesus.

Success is measured not only by attendance, but by transformed lives, healthy relationships, engaged families, and faithful discipleship.

The successful candidate must affirm and minister in accordance with the Doctrines and Social Witness of the Global Methodist Church and agree to uphold the standards outlined in the Global Methodist Church Book of Doctrines and Discipline.
