Community & Culture: Life in Northville & Novi. Northville is a wealthy, historic, walkable town; neighboring Novi is faster-growing, more corporate, and more diverse — both thriving on the surface but, All Souls believes, spiritually hungry underneath. The church operates like a startup rather than an institution, focused on reaching the unchurched, de-churched, and under-churched, with a body of 40–50 that functions more like a family than an audience. Its missional presence rests on four rhythms — Face-to-Face Connection, Civic Leadership, Radical Hospitality, and Relentless Involvement — and its leadership culture is built on four commitments: Gospel Identity Over Achievement, Humility in Shared Weakness, Dependent Interdependence, and Restorative Protection.

The Role: Director of Music and Creative Arts. A builder's role, not a maintenance job — this person shapes what the congregation sees and hears from day one, creating worship that's musically excellent, technically simple, and inviting to both longtime believers and first-time visitors. Weekend priorities include leading and planning Sunday music, setting a modern and reverent tone using the Sing! Hymnal, ensuring smooth service transitions, and planning around key seasonal moments. The role reports to the Planting Pastor (Cord Carlin), works closely with him and relevant volunteer teams, oversees all music and creative volunteers, and manages a small volunteer team.

Key Responsibilities: Where You'll Spend Your Time. Four areas define the job:

1. Sunday Worship Leadership (leading music weekly, using the Sing! Hymnal, creating an engaging environment within a liturgical service, and working with the Planting Pastor on service logistics).
2. Volunteer Culture Building (recruiting and training musicians and creative volunteers, building a sustainable rotation, and fostering a family-like team culture).
3. Creative Content & Branding (overseeing the church's visual footprint, building a consistent voice, and partnering with the Planting Pastor on content).
4. Production Logistics (building a simple-but-full AVL production team, managing gear on a church-plant budget, troubleshooting calmly and professionally, establishing repeatable systems, and submitting yearly plans and budgets to the Oversight Commission).

Who We're Looking For: Four core competencies anchor the ideal candidate.

1. Entrepreneurial "Grit" (comfortable with ambiguity and shifting plans).
2. Relational Magnet (a warm personality that draws people into community and mobilizes volunteers).
3. Musical and Vocal Strength (able to front a modern worship band from guitar or keys).
4. Production Capability (competent in basic audio mixing, streaming, ProPresenter, and Planning Center Services).

Qualifications: Spiritually, the role calls for a credible, growing walk with Christ in joyful alignment with historic, orthodox Christianity as articulated in the Nicene Creed, openness to learning Reformed theology and worship through discipleship with Pastor Cord, enthusiastic support of the church's vision for Northville and Novi, and a servant's posture willing to do whatever the launch team needs. On experience and education, prior worship-leading experience is expected — church-plant or small-team experience is a strong plus — along with working knowledge of Planning Center Services and ProPresenter; formal degree training is a plus but not required.
