Position Summary: The Associate Pastor/Director of Congregational Life nurtures the relational, and missional vitality of the congregation by overseeing programs and ministries that foster Christian community, care, and connection among all age groups. This individual collaborates closely with pastoral staff, session committees, and volunteers to create a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment open to all members and visitors. This is an ordained or non-ordained position.

Responsibilities:

Congregational Life

  • Plan and organize ministry opportunities that engage a variety of age ranges.
  • Lead the church in implementing multi-generational ministry.
  • Help educate the church on the value of learning and serving together.
  • Oversee age- and interest-related ministries.
  • Provide leadership and support for volunteers in children, youth, and adult ministry.
  • Coordinate small groups ministries
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuary Policy.
  • Coordinate the church nursery, serving as a resource for Nursery Staff
  • Creatively design and execute occasions for fellowship
  • Help congregation and visitors find appropriate ways to connect.
  • Make suggestions as to which groups/ministries fit a person’s skills/desires.
  • Oversee a coordinated effort to include each person in the church family.

Pastoral

  • In cooperation with the Sr. Pastor, participate in worship leadership
  • Oversee milestone ministries (Confirmation, Acolyte Training, etc.)
  • Offer pastoral care when needed, keeping Sr. Pastor informed of concerns

Additional Duties

  • Work in coordination with elders and staff.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend weekly worship.
  • Make use of newsletter, website, social media, etc. to maintain effective communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong work-ethic with skills in multi-tasking, organization, and taking initiative.
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks, then direct, train, and encourage volunteers.
  • Minimum of three years of Christian ministry experience.
  • Abide by the GCPC Employee Handbook

Job Specifications:

  • Full-time position
  • Salary commensurate with experience, education, and skill level
  • Position works for the church Session, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor
