Full-Time Worship Pastor

Genesis Church — Muskegon, Michigan

Just over two years ago, Genesis Church moved into a new building with 80 people. Today, more than 350 people gather here each week—and we believe this is only the beginning.

Now we are searching for a Worship Pastor who can help us steward what God is doing and build the worship ministry for what comes next.

Our mission is to help people Find and Follow Jesus. We are passionate about reaching people far from God, seeing lives transformed by the Gospel, and creating an environment where people can take meaningful next steps toward Jesus.

Worship at Genesis

Our worship is modern, energetic, authentic, and strongly congregational. We pursue excellence without becoming performance-driven. We want people participating—not merely watching.

Our musical direction includes Phil Wickham, Brandon Lake, Elevation Worship, Passion, Maverick City Music, Cody Carnes, and hymns or older worship songs when appropriate.

More than any particular style, we value worship that is biblical, Gospel-centered, spiritually authentic, and accessible to the congregation.

What You Will Lead

Weekend Worship

• Serve as the primary worship leader for weekend services.
• Plan Christ-centered worship experiences in partnership with the Lead Pastor.
• Select music, prepare service elements, and lead effective rehearsals.
• Help create cohesive services that encourage people to respond to God.

Worship Teams

• Recruit, train, schedule, and spiritually invest in musicians, vocalists, and worship leaders.
• Build a healthy pipeline for discovering and developing new volunteers.
• Develop additional worship leaders so the ministry does not depend upon one person.
• Create a team culture marked by preparation, humility, relationship, and spiritual health.

AVL and Production

• Oversee audio, video, lighting, livestream, and production ministries.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and develop sound booth and production volunteers.
• Ensure that systems and teams support weekend services with excellence.
• Evaluate and improve production systems as the church grows.

You do not need to be an expert in every production discipline, but you must possess enough technical knowledge to lead volunteers, troubleshoot common problems, and ensure that each area functions effectively.

Ministry Leadership

• Develop a clear vision for worship and production that supports the mission of Genesis Church.
• Build the leaders, teams, and systems required for the church’s next season.
• Oversee ministry planning, communication, scheduling, resources, and budgets.
• Serve as a collaborative staff member who supports the Lead Pastor and the broader mission of the church.

The Worship Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor.

Who We Are Looking For

The right candidate will demonstrate:

• A growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
• God-honoring character marked by integrity, humility, and spiritual maturity.
• Theological and philosophical alignment with Genesis Church.
• Proven experience leading contemporary worship in a local church.
• Strong vocal ability and proficiency on at least one instrument; guitar is preferred.
• The ability to recruit, shepherd, and develop volunteers and leaders.
• Working knowledge of AVL and contemporary worship-production systems.
• Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills.
• Initiative, emotional maturity, teachability, and a collaborative spirit.
• A desire to make West Michigan home and invest in Genesis for the long term.

Full-time worship ministry experience and familiarity with Planning Center and ProPresenter are preferred. A bachelor’s degree in worship ministry, music, biblical studies, or a related field is beneficial but not required. Proven character, chemistry, competency, and ministry experience matter most.

We offer competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications ranging from $50-70k, along with: Health insurance, Retirement, and Paid vacation
