Position: Student Minister

Position Details

·       Employment: Full time; part-time arrangements may be considered for candidates pursuing their education.

·       Church Size: Approximately 250 members

·       Student Ministry: Approximately 25 students

·       Reports To: Senior Pastor

Position Summary

The Student Minister will provide spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care for students in grades 6–12. The goal is to help students know Christ, grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, serve others, and share the Gospel.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide weekly biblical teaching and discipleship for students on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights.
• Build intentional, Christ-centered relationships with students and their families.
• Develop and oversee student ministry activities, retreats, camps, mission opportunities, and outreach events.
• Recruit, train, and encourage adult volunteers to serve in the student ministry.
• Partner with parents in the spiritual development of their teenagers.
• Encourage students to share their faith and become involved in the life and ministry of the church.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and spiritually healthy environment for students.
• Communicate regularly with the Senior Pastor regarding ministry plans, needs, and progress.
• Manage the student ministry budget and calendar responsibly.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates a genuine and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Feels called and passionate about working with students.
• Supports the church’s beliefs and the Baptist Faith & Message.
• Possesses strong biblical teaching, communication, and relational skills.
• Demonstrates personal integrity, maturity, organization, and dependability.
• Previous student ministry experience and/or biblical education preferred.

The Student Minister should be relational, biblical, evangelistic, discipleship-focused, and team-oriented, with a desire to see students become committed followers of Jesus Christ and active participants in the life of the church.

Founded in the early 1900’s, Mount Carmel Baptist Church (MCBC) is a Southern Baptist Church in the beautiful community of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. The area is growing rapidly, and MCBC has experienced rapid growth over the past several years with over 50 baptisms in 2023 and 2024. In 2004, the church had under twenty members, but today has grown to over 700 members. In December of 2006, the church moved its campus to the current site which includes just over 6.5 acres at the intersection of Hwy 54 and Bagnell Dam Blvd. At the beginning of 2014, we had outgrown the church building and constructed a 7,000 sq ft sanctuary, foyer, and nursery.

Our Sunday morning attendance averages 200-250 and the church campus has experienced exciting enhancements over the past few years including all new concrete parking, lighting, a new children’s playground, among other improvements. Along with these improvements, the church has two additional phases planned that include constructing a new sanctuary, classrooms, and fellowship hall. MCBC is a vibrant fellowship with the following characteristics:

· Extremely friendly worship environment with many of our visitors commenting that this “is one of the most welcoming churches” and, “I feel the Spirit when I worship here”.

· All generations are well-represented in the congregation.

· Sound biblical teaching adhering to the Baptist Faith and Message.

· Excellent music ministry under our Minister of Music with vocalists, instrumentalists, and choirs

· Active youth and children’s ministries with year around programs.

· Joyful traditional worship with hymns in our early service (8:00am) and a more contemporary style in the late service (10:45am).

· Annual Budget of approximately $600K, of which we give over 25% to Missions.
