Job overview

Technical Director is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the technical production operations on our 378 and Whiteford campuses. The Technical Director will also recruit, train, and develop team members for use of all major technical systems; this includes weekend services, events, and classes.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the Tech Team volunteers and Tech Assistant.
  • Work closely with the Worship Leader to ensure every gathering flows with a spirit of excellence
  • Manage stage preparation and set design which includes stage setup and equipment placement.
  • Ensure a proper sound, media, lighting, and video check are performed prior to each gathering.
  • Recruit, train, and manage the production team to help with all backstage aspects of production and special events.
  • Maintain inventory for all sound equipment; track equipment usage and formalize tracking system for any teams using audio or video equipment.
  • Oversee the proper use of theater lighting for all gatherings and special events.
  • Provide fast and effective solutions to all AVL hardware and software difficulties in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Assess future technology needs and work with the Administrator and Lead Team with purchasing requirements and timelines.
  • Schedule online services to run on church online platform and social media platforms.
  • Other AVL duties and leadership as assigned by Worship Pastor.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Spirit-Filled believer with a heart and passion for worship
  • 3-5 years of experience in the following areas: 1) Medium to large venue gatherings as the lead front of the house engineer/technical director 2) Engineering and troubleshooting intelligent lighting fixtures 3) Overseeing camera operations in a live, multi-camera environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of digital and analog audio systems and networks as well as large-format digital consoles (Yamaha, Allen & Heath, Behringer)
  • Detailed knowledge of hardware and software broadcast video environments, switchers with multiple camera processing, keyed computer graphics, and presentation software (e.g. BlackMagic, ProPresenter, Proclaim)
  • Detailed knowledge of projectors, displays, and video transmission.
  • Detailed knowledge of intelligent, theatrical, LED, and DMX processing of lighting
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up and downstairs and ladders on a regular basis.
