At Christ Community Church, we believe children are not just the future of the church—they are part of the church today. Our mission is to make fully committed followers of Jesus Christ, and that calling begins with the next generation.

We are looking for a Children’s Ministry Pastor who believes ministry to children is not simply childcare but discipleship—someone who will help create joyful, gospel-centered environments where children learn God’s Word, volunteers serve with purpose, and families are equipped to raise their children to follow Jesus.

The Mission

As the Children’s Ministry Pastor, you will lead and shepherd our ministry to children (Birth through 5th Grade). Your role will be to create environments where children are welcomed, taught God’s Word faithfully, and encouraged to grow as fully committed followers of Jesus.

You will help cultivate a ministry that reflects the heart of Christ Community Church—biblically grounded, relationally rich, and focused on making fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.

What You’ll Do

Cast Vision

Provide clear direction for Children’s Ministry that aligns with the mission and culture of Christ Community Church, helping volunteers and families see the eternal impact of investing in the next generation.

Build and Lead a Team

Recruit, equip, and shepherd a passionate team of volunteers who joyfully serve children and families. You aren't just filling slots; you’re developing leaders.

Create Engaging Discipleship Environments

Design and oversee age-appropriate programming for weekend services, midweek gatherings, and special events that help children understand the gospel and grow in faith.

Equip Families

Partner with parents as the primary spiritual leaders in their homes by providing encouragement, resources, and opportunities for connection as they navigate the beautiful chaos of raising kids who follow Jesus.

Strengthen the Church Community

Work collaboratively with church leadership and ministry teams to ensure Children’s Ministry supports the broader life and mission of Christ Community Church.

• A genuine love for children and a passion to see them grow into lifelong disciples of Christ.
• Someone who has the talent to see leadership potential in others. Being able to recruit, develop, and encourage volunteers to serve with excellence and joy.
• Able to relationally connect with children, parents, and ministry teams.
• Experience serving or leading within children’s ministry or a similar environment.

Position Details

Full-Time with Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO)

Salary: $66,000-$75,000

Reports to: Executive Pastor

Christ Community was formed in a Carmichael garage in 1961, and in 1962 formally organized as a Reformed Church in America (RCA) congregation. Christ Community’s mission - then and now - has been to make fully committed followers of Jesus Christ. We exist to be the presence of Christ in Carmichael and beyond. We have always had an eye not only on the already gathered, but on welcoming and blessing the not yet gathered. As a multi-generational church, we say we are one church with two worship styles!

After outgrowing the original Winding Way campus, Christ Community moved to its current Manzanita Avenue campus in 1980; it was significantly expanded in 2008. In 2022 Christ Community joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Today, we are led by our Senior Pastor Ryan Balbi who spent 15 years in youth ministry and has a deep passion to raise up disciples of Jesus.
