Associate Minister of Administration

About the Position

The Associate Pastor of Ministries provides leadership, oversight, and development of key discipleship and care ministries at New Life Christian Church. This pastor will oversee Life Groups, Pastoral Care, and Missions & Outreach while also contributing to preaching and teaching ministries.

This position is designed as a leadership development pathway, preparing the Associate Pastor to potentially assume greater leadership responsibility in the future, including the role of Lead Pastor.

This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor and works closely with the Elders and ministry leaders to advance the mission and vision of New Life Christian Church.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

Ministry Oversight & Leadership – Provide leadership, vision, and coordination for key ministries of the church including:

• Life Groups / Discipleship
• Oversee the development and health of Life Groups.
• Recruit, train, and support Life Group leaders.
• Develop group curriculum in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
• Help create pathways for spiritual growth and discipleship.
• Pastoral Care
• Provide pastoral care for church members including hospital visits, counseling, and prayer support.
• Develop and lead a pastoral care team.
• Assist with weddings, funerals, and member care needs.
• Missions & Outreach
• Partner with the Missions Team to support missionaries and mission initiatives.
• Help coordinate missions emphasis events and mission partnerships.
• Develop local outreach opportunities that engage church members in serving the community.

Preaching & Teaching

• Preach periodically in Sunday worship services.
• Teach Bible studies, leadership development classes, and discipleship groups.
• Assist the Lead Pastor in sermon series planning.
• Help develop future teachers and ministry leaders within the church.

Leadership Development

• Identify, recruit, and mentor ministry leaders and volunteers.
• Equip and train leaders for effective ministry.
• Help create systems that support sustainable ministry growth.

Strategic Ministry Planning

• Work with the Lead Pastor to help implement the church’s mission, vision, and annual ministry goals.
• Assist in developing ministry strategies aligned with the church’s vision.
• Participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, and ministry planning.

Congregational Leadership

• Build relationships with church members and guests.
• Help create a welcoming and connected church culture.
• Represent the church in community ministry partnerships when needed.

General Requirements

Spiritual Qualifications

• Demonstrates a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
• Meets the biblical qualifications for church leadership (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
• Displays a growing and mature walk with Christ.

Ministry Experience

• Prior ministry leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in discipleship, pastoral care, or ministry leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead volunteers and develop teams.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Seminary training (MDiv or equivalent) preferred.
