Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Department: Facilities & Events

Reports to: Facilities and Events Director

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a full-time position responsible for maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming church campus. This role supports both the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning of the Facilities & Events team. The technician performs hands-on repairs, preventative maintenance, and facilities upkeep across all Copper Hills Church buildings and grounds.

In addition to executing repairs and facility maintenance (e.g., painting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry), this position supports the setup, tear down, and operational needs of ministry events. The technician also contributes to the strategic planning, vendor coordination, project management, and stewardship of the church's physical resources.

This individual plays a key role in ensuring the Copper Hills campus is always ready to support ministry with excellence, comfort, and safety.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine inspections and hands-on repairs for all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure cleanliness, functionality, and safety of all interior and exterior spaces.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend the life of facility assets.

Facilities Management Support

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a long-term maintenance plan and capital improvement schedule.
  • Maintain and update facility logs, work order systems, and inventory records.
  • Support the Facilities and Events Director in obtaining bids and managing vendor relationships for contracted services (e.g., landscaping, HVAC, security systems).
  • Help ensure regulatory compliance related to building codes, fire safety, ADA accessibility, and environmental standards.
  • Provide input on budgeting for facilities-related expenses, materials, and upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability improvements.

Events Support

  • Coordinate and execute room setups, tear downs, and furniture/equipment moves for events, ministries, and external users of the facility including managing the logistics team both paid and volunteer.
  • Support audio/visual setup and facility readiness in coordination with the Events and Tech teams.
  • Ensure that all event spaces are clean, organized, and welcoming.


Day in the Life Profile

A typical day may include troubleshooting a malfunctioning HVAC unit, touching up paint in high-traffic areas, preparing spaces for a midweek event, and working with a vendor on a facilities upgrade project. This role requires the ability to shift between urgent hands-on needs and long-term facilities goals. Flexibility, strong problem-solving, and teamwork are essential.


Qualifications

  • Mature and growing Christian who models Christlike character (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1)
  • Alignment with the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of Copper Hills Church
  • Passion for serving the church through practical, behind-the-scenes ministry
  • 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, trades, or property management
  • Skilled in one or more trades: HVAC, plumbing, painting, electrical, drywall, carpentry
  • Knowledge of building systems, codes, and preventative maintenance practices
  • Ability to diagnose and solve maintenance issues independently
  • Strong organizational and planning skills for strategic facility care
  • Prior experience supporting events and/or working in a church, school, or non-profit setting preferred
  • Comfortable working with tools, ladders, lifts, and safety gear
  • Physically able to lift 50+ pounds, climb, and work in various environments
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills


Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week (some evening/weekend hours required based on events)
  • Reports onsite at Copper Hills Church campus
  • Compensation based on experience
