Antioch Baptist Church in Edgefield, SC, is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor. We are a conservative, mission-minded body of believers. Members and those involved in the church range in age from newborn to 95. We are a very loving congregation. Recently, the minister who filled the pulpit had the following to say about Antioch in an email to the church office. "It was a joy to be with you at Antioch Church yesterday! You have such a sweet body of believers, so encouraging and hospitable. I just love to visit country churches. They have an atmosphere that is special."
As I am sure you understand, the pandemic did have its impact on Antioch. Attendance at our weekly service; however, hovers between 75 and 100. Our Sunday School has been impacted as well. We have Wednesday night prayer meeting and Bible study, along with Mission Friends, GAs, RAs, Acteens, and RA Challengers. We are fortunate to have members and parents who love our children and want to see them in church and ministered to. The Acteens and RA Challengers meet as a part of our youth group. We would love to have a pastor who has a heart for every age group in our church.
Our deacons have truly been servant leaders over the past three years during some very difficult times. We also have a very active Prayer Team. They will host Antioch's second National Day of Prayer service at the church on Thursday, May 5, the National Day of Prayer. Our WMU is also very active. They promote mission giving within the church to the Annie Armstrong, Lottie Moon, and Janie Chapman offerings as well as participation in community outreach.
Members of Antioch are involved with Disaster Relief. Most recently they went to Pennsylvania as a part of the team from the Edgefield Association. We also participate in missions at a local level and through CCC - Churches Changes Communities - which will be held July 10 - 15 for the first time in three years. It is coordinated by the Edgefield Association and a group of volunteers.
