Position: Student Minister                        

Classification: Full Time, Salaried Minister           

Team/Focus: Discipleship/Students 7th-12th Grade

Primary Reporting Relationship: Discipleship Pastor

Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000 plus benefits

 

Qualifications

·       Master’s degree from a nationally accredited seminary (if incomplete, must be completed within 1 year).

·       Vision for and experience in Disciple-making

·       Experience in developing volunteer leaders and small groups

·       Ability, desire, and passion to enlist, equip, and empower volunteer leaders for ministry

·       Teachable spirit and an openness to learn new ideas 

·       Desire to collaborate and work in a team environment 

·       Humble Servant Leader

  • Passion for community ministry and missions


Goals and Expectations


Disciple-Making

·       Support the church’s vision to make disciples that make disciples

·       Create an environment in which multiplication is normal

·       Regularly invest in sharing the gospel 

·       Personally lead or participate in a multiplying discipleship group

·       Help equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their students

·       Follow up with guests. Guide prospects and Church members to their next step 


Leadership Development

·       Enlist, equip, and empower leaders for the Student Ministry

·       Build strong leadership teams and a pipeline of potential leaders for the Student Ministry

·       Regularly meet 1-1 with current and potential leaders to cast a clear vision for Student ministry and provide support, motivation, and encouragement

·       Provide ongoing leadership training and development for the Student Ministry leaders


Student Ministry

·       Oversee the Student ministry environments, set-up, and weekly programming

·       Build strong, Christ-centered relationships with Students

·       Guide Students through the Next Generation milestones in partnership with their parents

·       Plan and Execute Student Ministry Events (monthly small, quarterly bigger events, and summer BIG event)

·       Recruit and Deploy a Student Leadership Team for substantive ministry impact

·       Engage local Middle Schools and High Schools for lunches and chaplain opportunities

·       Look for ways to provide help for students who come from non-traditional homes

·       Work with the Ministry Team to launch and support the family resource center

·       Create pathways and opportunities for Students to serve

·       Develop transitions for students as they enter and leave Student ministry. 

·       Instill highest standards of safety and protection for students and leaders 

·       Instill in the students a love for the local church


Missions

·       Oversee and meet regularly with local community ministries specifically related to Students

·       Create opportunities for Students to serve local community ministries.

·       Support the Church’s vision to have an indispensable impact in the community

·       Mobilize Student Life Groups as Global mission partner advocates (pray, give, go)

·       Help Lead an annual mission trip


Administration

·       Develop and implement a weekly work schedule that includes time for disciple-making, leadership development, 1-1 meetings, team meetings, ministry planning, outreach, and communication.

·       Establish and follow through with clear and consistent ongoing communication with Staff, Leaders, Volunteers, and Church Members

·       Communicate regularly with parents and students (e.g., meetings, social media, emails, group texts).

·       Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly strategic meetings

·       Contribute to the strategic goal setting and long-range planning meetings with the Staff

·       Work together with staff to plan and implement church-wide events


Personal Growth and Care

·       Daily time for Bible reading and prayer that fosters an investment out of intimacy with Jesus

·       Develop healthy accountable relationships that embrace vulnerability and speak life into each other

·       Take care of your physical and emotional health

·       Set and work towards annual goals for personal growth
