Worship Pastor

The Worship Pastor is responsible for the development and promotion of the worship ministry. His primary task will be to equip every member to use their musical gifts to edify the body and glorify the Lord. He will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and conducting, of the worship ministry. Worship at Skyland Baptist Church will be intergenerational in style and on stage. The primary purpose of the position is to provide direction, oversight, and coordination of musical, artistic, and technical elements of worship services. 

Worship Responsibilities 

• Develop a plan with assistance from the Senior Pastor for the worship ministry of Skyland Baptist Church to help fulfill its mission. 
• Work with musicians, choir, and others in developing creative worship services.
• Lead the congregation in corporate worship and singing during the Sunday church services as well as special services (revivals, concerts, seasonal programs)
• Direct the choir or praise team during the Sunday services, working with volunteer musicians (instrumentalists and vocalists). 
• Encourage the development of spiritual, musical, artistic, and technical gifts of others.
• Develop an annual worship ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the Finance Team.
• Preview the selection and purchase of all music and instruments with the assistance of the Pastor and Finance Team.
• Establish a rehearsal schedule for choirs, instrumentalists, youth band, and praise team members of various age levels.
• Train sound team members on how to use new software and sound equipment in weekly worship services.

Skyland Baptist Church began on June 2, 1962 with a singular mission of fulfilling the great commission. Our church has only had three Senior Pastors since its inception. Our church has the warmth of a small community church made up of about 350-400 weekly in attendance. We are passionate about reaching people both in our city and all around the world with the good news of Jesus.
