Job Description

LEBANON BAPTIST CHURCH

Senior Pastor Job Description

Introduction

Lebanon Baptist Church, established in 1848, is a long-standing beacon of God’s love and light.  Located in Eastover, North Carolina, the Lebanon congregation strives daily to live out this mission, “Helping Individuals Reach Their Potential In Jesus Christ – From Seeds To Cedars.”  As the church, we want to build individual relationships under the power of the Holy Spirit to help each other with the difficulties of life and celebrate the victories as well (1 Corinthians 12:12-19).  As part of the Southern Baptist Convention, our congregation has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message as our confession of faith.  We stand firm in our belief that the Holy Bible was divinely inspired by the one true God and is inerrant from beginning to end.

Lebanon offers a wide variety of worship services, Bible studies, and discipleship opportunities for all ages throughout the week.  On Sundays, we gather for Sunday School and Morning Worship, and offer Adult Bible Study along with discipleship programs for children and youth in the evening.  On Wednesdays, we offer children and youth programs, as well as prayer meetings and Bible study for adults.  Additionally, there are many other opportunities for fellowship and service at Lebanon, with groups such as the Baptist Men’s Ministry, the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), the S.O.U.L. (Sharing Our Unconditional Love) Sisters, the Golden Club, and the Drama Team.  Our worship services are a blend of traditional and contemporary music, and we are blessed with an amazing choir, a dynamic and multigenerational praise team, and a wide variety of extremely talented instrumentalists.

Lebanon is an evangelical, mission-minded church with a heart for the Eastover community.  We are extremely involved in the local Backpack Buddy program which supports multiple area schools each week from our church’s food pantry. With the dedication and support of our congregation, Lebanon’s Backpack Buddy program has grown into a massive community-wide effort with multiple corporate sponsors, providing meals to over 125 children each weekend.  Lebanon also partners with the Upward Sports program, offering winter basketball and cheerleading for children in grades K-6.  Over the last ten years, this exciting sports ministry has allowed our church to connect and engage with hundreds of children and their families.

The Town of Eastover, North Carolina was incorporated in 2007, and is well known for its welcoming community spirit, proud heritage, and top-rated schools.  With a population of approximately 4,000 residents, the town maintains its rural character.  Eastover is located just across the Cape Fear River from Fayetteville, a progressive city whose metropolitan statistical area population exceeds 336,000.  The area includes the largest military base in the United States, Fort Bragg.  Eastover is a unique blend of lifelong residents and military-affiliated families.  Folks around here like to call it “God’s Country”, and those of us at Lebanon tend to agree.

We look forward with faith to what God has in store for our church and our community, and believe with confidence, that He is presently calling and preparing the right pastor to lead Lebanon Baptist Church.
