Worship Leader

Are you passionate about modeling and leading authentic worship that points people to Jesus and not simply musical entertainment?

Friendship Baptist Church, a church situated about 40 miles southwest of Chicago in the suburb of Plainfield IL, is looking for a Worship Leader to facilitate a meaningful weekly worship experience for our congregation as we seek to live out our mission to Love God, Love Others, and Light Our World!

This position will require 8-12 hours per week and will include the following responsibilities:

· Develop and execute a creative vision for worship ministry and inspire others to join in pursuit of that vision.

· Select songs that will support the preaching theme/topic/text for each week.

· Involvement in mentoring on various aspects of pastoral ministry from experienced pastor and leader.

· Support the growth and development of musical talents and gifts of church members.

· Support the planning of the weekly worship service by creating and uploading worship slides. Familiarity with or a willingness to learn Planning Center and Pro Presenter to set up worship services on the sanctuary computer.

· Rehearse with our praise band. This currently occurs 6:15PM on Wednesday evenings and also Sunday mornings. Our music style is blended and includes contemporary worship songs, hymns with contemporary arrangements, and traditional hymns.

· Lead or support worship for special events (i.e. Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Outreach events)

Perfect opportunity for either a current student or someone who is willing to serve in a bi-vocational role for the time being.

Successful candidates will have the following:

· An authentic and growing faith in Jesus Christ

· Passion for exalting the Lord and leading others to worship Him

· Demonstrated ability to lead a positive and effective team dynamic

· The vocal ability to lead the musicians and a multi-generational congregation in authentic worship.

· Talent and ability as an instrumentalist a plus.
