The Associate Pastor for Young Adults serves First Baptist Church of Albany in a full-time ministry leadership position under the direct supervision of the Executive Pastor. The AP for Young Adults works primarily with Young Adult lay leaders to help the church fulfill the vision of cultivating hope by making disciples of Jesus in our community, city, and world. This pastor will lead in the creation and implementation of effective strategies and ministries to reach, connect with, and fully integrate young adults and their families into the life of the church.
Young adults range in age from 18-35ish and include college students, young professionals, and married couples who are either beginning or soon beginning their own families. This pastor serves as a core member of the church’s ministry leadership team, which is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive ministry strategy for the church. Thus, this pastor has input into additional areas of the church’s ministries and may provide leadership in these areas, as necessary.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a staff liaison to the Young Adults’ Ministry Team to assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of events and strategies for discipleship opportunities for young adults in the church and community. In this role the AP of Young Adults equips the team to plan in accordance with the church’s mission and vision, promote strategically the opportunities, and evaluate the effectiveness of the opportunities.
- Help the Young Adults’ Ministry Team to create and maintain an ongoing, comprehensive ministry plan including evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, service, and prayer opportunities for the young adults of FBC Albany. This plan may overlap with other ministry groups within the church and be carried out cooperatively with those groups.
- Become involved in the community to develop relationships with young adults by engaging in common interests and activities such as civic groups, athletics, or collegiate events.
- Provide training for the Young Adults’ Ministry Team and other young adults who seek to engage in young adults’ ministries. These opportunities may include local church training sessions as well as those through the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and/or other approved ministry groups.
- Maintain a regular work schedule that includes office hours so that meetings and counseling sessions can be scheduled and/or occur, as necessary.
- Meet weekly with the church’s additional ministry leaders as well as the full church staff meeting to assist in planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive ministry strategy for the entire church, including introducing new strategies, keeping the team updated on events and strategies, revising plans, and communicating needs.
- Assist the Executive Pastor to develop an annual budget for the church’s Young Adults’ Ministries, including Collegiate, Young Professionals, and Young Families.
