Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church is a community of welcoming and committed believers who seek a Director of Family Ministries who will, in partnership with the Family Navigation Team, be responsible for the implementation and direction of both educational and fellowship programming. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (“BSLC”), building upon 67 years of Christ-centered ministries within the Lutheran tradition and developing a resurging family ministry, is blessed with a myriad of spiritual gifts. Family Ministry Vision and Purpose:

BSLC Family Ministry exists to help our children learn the truth, question and develop their understanding of the truth, and live out the truth within our congregation and without.

Where We Are Going:

The BSLC Director of Family Ministries will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of the church’s overall mission through ministry to children and families. The Director of Family Ministries will work under the guidance of the Family Navigation Team, alongside families, children and youth, volunteers and staff, and will report directly to the BSLC Senior Pastor. This full-time, 40 hour/week position will require some nights and most weekends.

The Director of Family Ministries Responsibilities:

The Family Ministries Program encompasses faith-formation and fellowship opportunities. Faith formation responsibilities center around weekly Sunday School and Catechism classes for TOTS through High School. Fellowship responsibilities include offering a robust annual calendar of events to families, children, and the community.

Faith Formation Responsibilities

The Director works alongside the Family Navigation Team to:

• Provide leadership, coaching, direction, and vision for BSLC Family Ministries

• Vet curriculum choices for Sunday School and Catechism

• Develop annual Sunday School themes in coordination with church calendar

• Recruit, train, and coordinate teachers and volunteers

• Develop optional retreats/workshops/intergenerational learning events connected to the vision and desired learning outcomes for the students and/or parents

• Equip parents to be the primary disciplers in the lives of their children - providing resources, tools, support, and trainings

• Communicate and advocate for the needs of the Family Ministry program

Fellowship Responsibilities

The Director works alongside the Family Navigation Team to:

• Develop an annual calendar of social events for children, youth, and families

• Host age appropriate social gatherings for congregational and community youth

• Coordinate family community events, making the BSLC campus a gathering space

• Celebrate faith milestones with ceremonies and recognition

The Director Will Continuously:

• Take the time to get to know the children and families of the church

• Genuinely enjoy and encourage children, tweens, and teenagers

• Proficiently communicate with families, mentors, and volunteers

• Be capable of teaching weekly children’s messages and Sunday lessons

• Be flexible and creative with each family to accomplish the desired outcomes

• Be familiar with all the resources and teach families how to use the resources

• Care and pray for each student and family daily

What You Bring:

Education Experience

• Bachelor's degree (preferred in ministry and/or education area)

• Preferred 3-5 years full-time experience with children in a ministry or educational setting

Personal Characteristics Qualifications

• Live an exemplary life modeling the call, character, and competencies of a follower of Jesus Christ

• Is committed to excellence in the development, implementation, and execution of the Family Navigation Team Vision

• Demonstrate strong computer and administrative skills, effective electronic and phone communication, event coordination, organization, budget comprehension

• Have familiarity with, or excitement about, social media’s role in learning and marketing

• Actively participate in the overall life of the church body in ministry-wide programs

• Have familiarity with faith-based, multimedia curriculum resources for various ages

• Models a high level of professionalism in confidential and sensitive circumstances with tact, patience, and diplomacy

• Exhibits an enthusiastic, flexible, and willing spirit

• Is a passionate, dedicated, and contributing member of the BSLC staff
