Children's Ministry Director
General Description of Position:
At Trinity we desire to see our families grow more and more in the grace of God. We believe that all good discipleship to children and youth begins at home. Therefore, for this position we are seeking a gifted individual to help lead our church families in growing deeper in Christ. This position would oversee and give shape to all ministries for children through grade school, and their parents.
Accountability:
This person would work closely with the lead pastor in creating a church environment where families are welcomed and empowered with the good news of Christ. The person will also work closely with the parents and volunteers from the congregation.
Areas of Responsibility:
Overarching goals:
- Seek the Lord and depend on Him.
- Work with the Sr High and Middle School Youth leader to develop and document a ministry and learning path that guides our children from preschool through Sr high school.
- Recruit and train volunteers for children and family ministries
- Work with the lead pastor in developing a strategy for integrating children and youth into the larger body of the church.
Direct oversight and management:
- Lead the Sunday School program for elementary age students including curriculum selection and recruiting volunteers.
- Maintain the integrity of the children’s Bible teaching time by ensuring the instruction is consistent with the doctrinal convictions of the church.
- Identify, plan, and implement ministry and mission opportunities for children to be integrated into the broader church family.
- Build relationship and connection between the Trinity Falls Discovery Center (onsite daycare and preschool) and the larger body of the church.
- Seek out opportunities to encourage and train parents in regular parent support events.
- Oversee and plan VBS.
- Oversee nursery ministry and staff.
- Work alongside our summer camp teams to ensure quality summer experiences for elementary campers.
- In consultation with other ministry leaders and senior church leadership, develop an annual budget for the children’s ministry and operate within the constraints of that budget.
Job Skills and Requirements:
- Vibrant relationship with Jesus dependent on prayer, God’s word, and the Spirit of God
- A love for God’s church
- A love for families and children
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in ministry to families
- Must have excellent leadership skills. This includes being a master recruiter and trainer and a proven ability to lead through influence.
- Knowledge and experience using the principles outlined in “Sticky Faith.”
- An understanding of, and agreement with Lutheran Theology
- A bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry, Education, or comparable field
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including knowledge of social media tools, and strong administrative skills (Microsoft suite of products)
