About Riverview Baptist Church
Opportunity knocks! Riverview Baptist Church is searching for a new Senior/Lead Pastor to lead our well-established (since 1887), financially stable, and ministry supportive congregation toward greater Christlikeness and growth in Kingdom results through the steadfast commitment to Our Mission:
To bring people to faith in Christ;
to bring Christians to maturity in Christ;
to worship and live to bring praise to Christ;
to support, locally and globally, the work of Christ.
We believe that in a time when many churches sound increasingly like the world in how they engage culture, we aim to speak distinctively as Christians by destroying every ideology, belief, or worldview raised in opposition to Christ, and we strive to take every thought captive in obedience to Christ, for He alone is Lord (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).
Riverview is an Elder-led fellowship, well into its second century of Christ-centered, biblically based ministry, and strong international missions support. As we are steadfast in Our Mission, so too are we continually renewing our vision to improve the effectiveness of our ministry throughout our multi-generational and diverse congregation—with current membership at 185, average Sunday worship attendance about 180 plus those regularly watching the live stream, and plenty of room to grow!
The current church facility, originally built in 1960 with additions in 1976 and 2011, sits on 4.5 acres in West St Paul, Minnesota, a first-ring suburb of St. Paul in the southeast area of the Minneapolis/St. Paul (Twin Cities) metropolitan area; with immediately adjacent cities of Mendota Heights, Inver Grove Heights, and South St. Paul.
Living in Christian community is essential to the Christian life; and at Riverview, we want everyone to have other Christians in their lives who support and encourage them. We do this primarily through Community Groups—most of which meet on Wednesday nights in the church facility along with youth activities. The evening starts with a community meal followed by small group meetings to read and discuss scripture, develop friendships, and pray for one another, while youth activities occur at the same time. This Family Night is the main gathering point for all ages at Riverview other than Sunday morning.
Other smaller group ministries within the church include Ladies Morning Out for bible study and fellowship on Thursday mornings; Summer in the Park for family fun, food, and fellowship every other Wednesday evening at a city park in June, July, and August; Annual All-church Winter Retreat for a weekend in February at Village Creek Bible Camp in Lansing, Iowa; Seniors Christmas Luncheon; Vacation Bible School; plus other Children, Youth, Young Adult, Women, and Men specific events throughout the year.
Sunday at Riverview begins with Sunday School for all ages starting at 9am, Fellowship Time at 10am, and Worship Service at 10:30am. Our worship service is reserved solely for God and God alone—God is the subject and object of worship—it is about Him and for Him. Riverview is blessed with abundant musical talent that is clearly evident in the praise and worship through song. The Word of God is the focus of the expositional preaching on a weekly basis. Our Sunday morning worship service is live streamed across YouTube, Facebook, and available on our website at RiverviewBaptist.net. Special teaching seminars or other special events occur occasionally on Sunday evenings.
Our website also provides additional information about What We Believe, Policy Documents, Current Staff, Community Outreach, International Missions we support, and so much more.
As testimony to how we support our Senior Pastors, the most recent is moving out-of-state to start a new church, the two previous retired from Riverview after more than 30 years of combined service and are both still members of Riverview.
