Student Pastor/Director

Journey Bible Church in Olathe, Kansas, is seeking a relational, dynamic, and Christ-centered Student Pastor/Director with a passion for investing in the next generation. We are looking for a leader who can create engaging environments where students (grades 6–12) encounter Jesus, form meaningful relationships, and grow as devoted disciples. This person will champion and equip adult leaders, partner closely with families, and cultivate a ministry culture that empowers students to own their faith and live on mission every day.

Olathe is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the Kansas City metro, known for its solid schools, strong family culture, and thriving local economy. With a population of nearly 150,000 people, Olathe continues to expand rapidly—attracting families and young professionals for its beautiful parks and trails, vibrant neighborhoods, and proximity to Kansas City. It is also home to the Garmin World Headquarters, one of the region’s largest employers, adding to the city’s growth, diversity, and energy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weekly Ministry Oversight

• Lead and oversee Switch MS and Switch HS weekly programming.
• Ensure the environments include biblical teaching, worship, games, and connection time.
• Serve as the primary communicator or build and lead a teaching team.
• Partner with Worship and Tech teams for engaging, age-appropriate services.

Discipleship & Small Groups

• Oversee Journey Groups (Wednesdays during the school year):MS meets on-site; HS meets in host homes.
• Recruit, train, and equip 15–20 adult leaders annually to disciple students.
• Recruit and establish 2–4 host homes each year to host HS Journey Groups.
• Plan leader training, vision casting, and appreciation events.

Student Discipleship & Leadership Development

• Establish a pipeline of discipleship and leadership, helping students mature and serve.
• Model discipleship through intentional relationships and mentoring.
• Develop a Student Leadership Team for service and ownership within Switch and the church.
• Attend student events (sports, performances, milestones) to encourage relational ministry.

Events, Retreats, and Trips

• Plan and execute key events: Fall Retreat, outreach events, MS Camp, and HS Mission Trip.
• Manage all logistics—recruitment, communication, travel, budgeting, and safety.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and mentor 1–2 Student Ministry Staff Residents.
• Cultivate a team culture of collaboration, growth, and passion for student ministry.

Administrative & Organizational

• Manage student ministry calendar, communication, and budget.
• Maintain compliance with church safety and child protection policies.
