Children's Pastor

Central Ministries is a healthy, growing, nondenominational church with two campuses in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Every age group is represented well at Central Ministries, with young families being one of our highest demographics. We are in search of someone to lead our Children’s Ministry (birth through 4th grade).

The candidate should have a calling to this age group (birth through 4th grade) and exhibit these skills in the following areas:

Leadership (Administration)

The candidate will oversee at least one part-time assistant (plan and regularly lead meetings with their children’s ministry team). They must be organized and able to communicate and implement effectively the correct procedures and policies in a ministry that has dozens of volunteers and hundreds of children.

Casting Vision

The candidate should burn with a passion from the Lord to guide little ones to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are looking for someone who is innovative and willing to find new ways to reach this younger generation for God. They should be able to articulate to parents and volunteers the purpose of the children’s ministry.

Building Teams

The candidate should enjoy building teams of volunteers for each age group. They are energized by recruiting, equipping, and overseeing the volunteer teams for all the weekend services and other special events. They will find creative ways to provide training for volunteers to grow as they serve.

Children’s Programming

The candidate will ensure that all the weekend services and other special events are produced with quality, as the children are engaged in worship and being taught God’s Word (oversee the worship team and teaching team). We want our children to go home and be excited to tell others about what they have learned.

Church Programming

Collaborate with other pastoral staff when Central Ministries offers special events, child dedications, and baptisms. Be consistently involved with Central Christian School (hang out with the kids at lunch, teach chapel occasionally, say hi to them at recess). We are looking for a team player — someone who has a passion for young children, but also understands how important it is to contribute in various areas of the church body.

Personal Development

Ministry can drain us quickly if we do not spend regular time alone with God, reading His word, and pursuing a deeper relationship with Him. Their top priority is to make sure they are taking time to allow God to speak to them personally. This is a large ministry they would be undertaking, and we believe that someone who has been through difficulties in their life and have learned from them will be prepared for leading such a vital ministry.

A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
