Associate Pastor

§ Support the Senior Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the church’s teaching and ministries.

§ Work with the Senior Pastor to ensure weekend services, church fellowships, mission opportunities, and church-wide events are planned and executed.

§ Mentor the Youth Leadership Ministry Team as they teach and lead the middle school and high school ministries. Including the selection or writing of curriculum and the training of the lead teachers.

§ Lead in the organization and planning of youth ministry calendar events.

§ Communication skills to effectively preach in the absence of the Senior Pastor.

§ Oversee volunteer groups such as welcome center, communion, and special events.

§ Able to recruit, teach, train, spiritually support and effectively supervise volunteers for adult ministries within the church.

§ Serve as the “face” of the staff on Sundays by being available in the lobby and entry areas to greet attendees and be available for questions or prayer.

§ Intentional about building relationships with the congregation.

§ Assists the Senior Pastor in the administration of the support staff and the needs of the physical campus.

A transitioned First Baptist Church that is focused on discipleship and community. Pastor has been at the church for 18 years, having led the transition to a modern missional minded, outward focused church family that has a strong reputation for loving each other and the community. Ministries are very family related and organic in nature as much as possible. Sunday mornings are for LifeGroups and Worship Gathering. Sunday evenings are for family time at home, with a monthly church wide fellowship designed to invite the unchurched. Wednesday evenings are age divided for youth, children, preschool, and adult bible studies. Discipleship groups and bible study groups meet throughout the week in our multiple buildings, in homes, at restaurants, or online. FBC Harlingen is a very healthy church with a sweet spirit of family and togetherness.
