Communications Director

Church Size: 400 average attendance     

Job Type: Full Time        Salary: Roughly $40-45k/year, commensurate with education and experience 

Brookside Church is currently seeking a full-time Communications Director, as well as assisting with other ministries as directed by the Lead Pastor. Brookside is a part of the CCCU denomination (of the Wesleyan Holiness tradition) and is located just west of Chillicothe, OH. The mission of Brookside Church is to make disciples who make disciples. We are committed to a discipleship strategy (across all of our ministries) of Awaken. The ministry campus currently consists of a Main Sanctuary and Administration building, a Children’s ministry building, a Senior Adult ministry center, and a Youth Center and Gymnasium. Brookside is also the host church for the preschool and elementary grades of Ross County Christian Academy and is adjacent to Brookside Center – Retirement Community Properties.  

Chillicothe, OH is located in south central Ohio and has a population of approximately 22,000. As the first and third capital of Ohio, Chillicothe has a rich historical district and is home to many parks and educational opportunities. The local economy is supported by several industries (Pixelle, Kenworth, etc.) and many government facilities (VA Hospital, Ross Correctional Institution, Chillicothe Correctional Institution).  

Job Description:

We are looking for someone to provide a dynamic, engaging, Christ-centered approach to all of our internal and external communications. We want a team builder who can recruit and deploy a volunteer staff of creative minds to assist in this process. Humility and discernment are crucial, as we are committed to striking a balance between sensitivity to the communication dynamic of our people, as well as a creative approach to reaching those outside our walls. Our staff regularly supports and serves one another in our respective areas of ministry, and our Communications Director is integral in that process. He or she will often speak on behalf of our staff and the church as a whole, and so a readiness to help is key. A deep, personal relationship with Christ is a must, and relevant experience in the field of graphic design is preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee and provide timely content for all external communications of the church (social media, website, Brookside app, as well as advertising, etc.)
• Develop (with Lead Pastor) and execute a strategy for all internal communications of the church (bulletin, weekly e-newsletter, announcements, etc.)
• Provide creative/design support to other staff members (worship slides, streaming, mailers, etc.)
• Maintain and update all church signage and logos (internal and external to the building)
• Taking the lead on special projects throughout the year, including seasonal devotional materials, video projects, producing ministry content to share, etc.
