Children’s Minister

Job description

Blountville Christian Church is seeking a dynamic and spiritually gifted Children’s Minister. This position will oversee an already healthy children’s ministry of BCC (ages Birth to 5th grade).

Children’s Minister Description

The Children’s Minister is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the children’s ministry and all the volunteer teams who serve within the ministry. He or She should be a servant leader who loves children and their family and is committed to evangelizing and discipling children, equipping families, and raising up other servant leaders to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Ministry Responsibilities

Lead and manage our BCC Kids ministry (nursery - 5th grade) on Sundays for both morning services on Sunday and Wednesday nights.

• Includes recruiting, training and supervising team members, ordering supplies, managing registrations, planning and promoting various events.

• Provide quality special events which includes VBS as well as creating other opportunities for kids and families of the community.

• Work cooperatively with all staff and ministry leaders to promote unity and cohesion in developing vision that aligns with BCC’s greater vision and annual plan.

• Create a culture of ongoing communication with parents, volunteers and staff.

• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of Children’s Ministries

• Develop processes necessary for effective Children’s Ministry operations.

• Select or create, evaluate implement a theologically sound, fun and teacher-friendly curriculum.

• Maintain a teachable spirit, a servant heart, and a commitment to continued learning and growth.

Other Responsibilities Include

• Meet biweekly with BCC staff.

• Support our overall ministry at BCC by attending church events, prayer meetings, outreach events, etc.

• Help with occasional parent/family counseling.

• Other duties as assigned

• A passionate Christ follower who continues to lead an exemplary Christian lifestyle at home, family, work, and in community.

• Demonstrates a healthy respect for and accountability to spiritual authority.

• Demonstrates a passionate call to children’s ministries (infant - 5th grade) and the skills of discipleship, administration, and teaching, which are needed to lead our children’s ministry to progressively higher standards of quality and excellence.

• Demonstrates a strong ability to inspire children, parents, staff and congregation.

• Demonstrates a strong ability to creatively teach the Bible to children while evangelizing and discipling them.

• Demonstrates a friendly, but strong ability to lead, communicate, plan, organize and delegate effectively.

• Demonstrates the ability to train, develop, empower, and mobilize ministry teams.

• Demonstrates the ability to partner cross-functionally with other departments within BCC.

Compensation Package

• Title: Children’s Minister

• Hours: Part-time position, typically 20-25 hours per week.

• Salary: Negotiable, based on experience

• Paid time off: 2 week’s vacation per year after probationary period.

Education and Experience

• Post-secondary degree or diploma is not required, however a Biblical and theological aptitude, as well as a strong desire for continued growth in those areas, is.

• At least 3 years children’s ministry experience

• Proven experience leading and developing others

• Proficient in social media

• Proficient in Apple computers/phones and proprietary software, Planning Center Online.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $250.00 - $400.00 per week
