About the Position
The Associate Minister of Worship assists the Worship Pastor in providing leadership, support, and direction for the Worship ministries of FBC Lafayette.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead in the planning, conducting, coordinating, and evaluating of the Modern Worship Service.
- Serve as Worship Leader for the Modern Service.
- Craft the order of worship for the Modern Service.
- Plan and execute weekly rehearsals with the Modern Worship Team.
- Recruit, equip, schedule, and mentor members of the Modern Worship Team.
- Coordinate the schedule of substitute or guest musicians.
- Maintain Modern Worship Library
- Lead next Gen worship teams; train and equip Next Gen worship leaders.
- Provide worship/music leadership for other services as needed; including, but not limited to the Legacy Worship Service, Sunday Night worship services, funerals, weddings, Christmas, etc.
- Support the Worship Pastor in planning and executing Worship Ministry Productions.
- Supervise, as assigned, ministerial staff, lay directors, and ministry teams.
- Manage budget and resources for respective ministries.
- Assist in discovering, enlisting, and training future leaders for ministry.
- Assist in pastoral ministry (i.e. counseling during worship invitations; assist in baptisms; conduct weddings and funerals when appropriate, and hospital visitation).
General Duties:
- Serve as staff liaison for assigned church committees and ministry teams.
- Keep informed on methods, materials, principles, procedures, promotions, and administration related to pertinent ministries.
- Cooperate with associational, state, and national programs and leaders. Be involved as time permits, giving priority to the church.
- Maintain openness to new ideas and flexibility in adopting new strategies of ministry.
- Participate in weekly visitation program.
- Provide support when needed to other departments with “all hands-on deck” ministries (i.e. Vacation Bible School).
- Be present and available to support all church-wide services (Sunday AM/PM and Wednesday PM) and events.
- Work with other ministry staff when responsibilities overlap.
- Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Senior Pastor.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Music or comparable degree and/or professional performing experience required, master’s degree preferred.
- Competent using Composing software (Sibelius or Finale) and DAW software (MultiTracks or Ableton).
- Possesses a working knowledge of computer, sound, video, and stage lighting techniques to enhance the worship experience.
- Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about music with the ability to play a lead instrument (preferably guitar) in the Modern Worship Team.
- Have a speaking style that engages the congregation.
- Commitment to working with amateur musicians.
- Willingness to support the entire worship service with presence and attendance, even when the Worship Team is not engaged in the worship service.
- Ability to create a worship experience through music that engages the congregation and encourages them to participate in worship.
General Requirements
- Be a Christian of high moral character who has demonstrated loyalty to God, the church, and his Pastor, and who expresses a call to the ministry.
- Fulfills the requirements of a pastor/overseer/elder found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Able and willing to sign FBC Lafayette’s Staff Covenant.
- Has evidenced a heart’s desire to win people to faith in Christ and to see them following Him.
- Has demonstrated a work ethic characterized by punctuality, integrity, honesty, diligence, excellence, and industriousness.
- Has demonstrated the ability to lead and work with volunteer workers of all age groups of the church in a spirit of harmony.
- Has demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively with other church staff members.
- Has demonstrated a high level of confidentiality concerning all areas of ministry, especially personal contributions, benevolence, and personal information.
