  • Self-awareness and ability to work well in a team

Key Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Understanding of child and teen development
  • Ability to set healthy boundaries while maintaining an open heart

Your Responsibilities

As our Family Minister, you'll play a crucial role in nurturing the spiritual growth of our community. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Collaborating with the Preaching Minister, Church Shepherds, Executive Director, and Pastoral Leader to carry out the church's mission, with a focus on Family Ministry
  2. Leading and coaching the Family Ministry Leadership team, providing spiritual development, tools, and regular meetings for each ministry leader and their team
  3. Ensuring Biblical teaching and curriculum for all age groups from infant to young adult, with a central focus on discipleship
  4. Developing age-specific ministries to ensure the greatest Biblical understanding and spiritual growth in developmentally-appropriate settings
  5. Integrating Family Ministry into the entire Sunset Ridge Church body through worship, fellowship, and service
  6. Organizing and leading the church's community engagement with local families and schools
  7. Providing pastoral care for congregants within the Family Ministry
  8. Ensuring safety practices and procedures are in place for all classrooms, ministry events, camps, and outings
  9. Overseeing the nursery coordinator and supporting their work
  10. Continuing your own professional development and spiritual growth through disciplined personal spiritual habits, annual conference attendance, and spiritual retreats

About Sunset Ridge Church of Christ

Welcome to a spiritual home, a church family. We are a people connected by belief in Jesus Christ, walking together on a journey to be more like Him, seeking to be fully dependent on God from sunrise to sunset, and helping each other as we follow the Way of our Savior. Inspired by the path that Jesus walked and the words He spoke, our mission is to follow Jesus, reach people and radiate His love and hope to all.

We are also the home of Sunset Ridge Collective, which was founded in Fall 2021 as the missional expression of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Visit sunsetridgecollective.org to learn more.

Children

We desire our community to be a place for children (0-5th grade) and their families to grow and flourish. Our nursery welcomes children 6 weeks through 3 years throughout morning programming. Children’s church is offered for children 4 years through 5th grade during a portion of both of our services, and Roots is the children’s gathering for Sunday morning formation time at 10:15am. A variety of activities for children and families are available throughout each month!

Youth

Sunset Ridge is a place for teens to grow in their faith and in authentic community. They gather upstairs in the Teen Room on Sunday mornings at 10:15am for spiritual disciplines and discipleship. Check our calendar for upcoming activities!

Prayer & Care

We believe in the power of prayer and in the importance of caring for our church family in times of need. Our Prayer & Care ministry visits homebound members, brings meals for those in times of crisis, and commit to praying regularly or all in our community.

Formation

The rhythm of discipleship and spiritual growth for adults as Sunset Ridge Church is through Spiritual Formation in our life groups. This ministry is supported by faithful leaders and coordinators. We currently have a combined class for adults that meets in the fellowship hall Sundays at 10:15 am. Life groups centered around study of the spiritual disciplines will resume in early June.

Women

Our women’s ministry primarily centers around a fellowship meeting on the last Wednesday of every month, affectionately called WWF (Women’s Wednesday Fellowship). As a group, we drink coffee, write cards to send out to people in our community, and pray for one another.

Men

Our men’s ministry meets on the first Wednesday of every month for lunch. These lunches help us share the highs and lows of our lives together. In the spirit of parallelism, we decided to call it MMA (Monthly Men’s Assembly). We also have an annual men’s retreat in the fall.
