Full Job Description:

Kids Zone Director

 …is the chief architect and leader of Kids Zone for the purpose of ensuring Good News Community Church lives out its mission to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others, and serve the world.


Ministry Target: Children, age 0 through 5th grade, both inside and outside of the church, and their families.


Accountable to: Associate Pastor, John Polson.


Anticipated Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week.


Specific Responsibilities:

-Provide leadership, vision, and strategy for nursery through 5th grade.

-Provide age-appropriate environments and systems that transform children into disciples of

Jesus Christ who love God, love others, and serve the world.

-Recruit, lead, train, support, and assist volunteer coordinators throughout Kids Zone who lead

the various aspects of the ministry.

-Recruit volunteers who serve under coordinators throughout Kids Zone.

-Provide kids classes that coordinate with Sunday worship services for adults and kid care that coordinates with special events and Path classes (the church’s discipleship system).

-Oversee theology and curriculum choices used throughout Kids Zone.

-Follow-up with kids, both first-time guests and long-time attenders, using the church’s people database system (Elvanto).

-Communicate about Kids Zone to the Core (the church’s leadership team), the congregation,

and the community.

-Ensure Kids Zone adheres to Good News’ Protection Procedure Policy.


Paid Staff Expectations:

-Nurture an on-going, growing, and healthy relationship with God.

-Become an Owner of Good News Church (living a life that honors Jesus, participating in weekly worship service, active member of a LIVE Group, serving in Jesus’ name, and generously supporting the church financially).

-Don’t just take a paycheck but work to grow the church and the Kingdom of God.

-Annually set goals for self and area of ministry.

-Actively participate in weekly staff meeting.

-Maintain healthy relationships with the congregation and staff.

-Consistently engage in lifelong learning through books, coaching, conferences, classes, and more.


Staff Qualifications:

-Demonstrate a healthy, growing relationship with God, directed by the Holy Spirit through the Bible and prayer.

-Hold a Bible centered, evangelical Christian theology.

-Hold the conviction that the local church exists to bring glory to God through both evangelism

of non-Christians and discipleship of believers.

-Have track record for being a team player who develops others.

-Be ready to laugh and enjoy life (don’t be a stick in the mud).
