Young Discipleship Summary: This full time, on-campus position is responsible for developing and directing all aspects of young discipleship, from birth through high school. The position will manage the Youth Director Intern, Children’s Director Intern, nursery staff, and volunteers. The ultimate goal is to grow these programs while fostering the spiritual growth of the children and youth.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cooperates with and supports other church staff in a spirit of unity to achieve a common goal– fulfilling the mission of the church.
- Proposes and maintains agreed-upon delegation models of job responsibilities to interns and volunteers.
- Provides a loving, caring, and accountable environment that leads young disciples to discover and develop a real relationship with Jesus.
- Educates and promotes to the church community the opportunities, purpose, and importance of children and youth ministry.
- Connects with children and youth in an age-appropriate way, developing personal, rewarding, and deep relationships.
- Communicates with the families of children and youth in a timely and professional manner.
- Offers age-appropriate activities and studies for children and youth including Nursery, Sunday School, Sunday night activities, Wednesday night activities, Tuesday prayer breakfasts and special events.
- Organizes seasonal ministries and special events throughout the year, including Confirmation class, graduation/promotion Sunday, weekly summer ‘serve & swim’ activities, a summer mission trip for youth, and Vacation Bible School for the children.
- Identifies, recruits, equips, and encourages volunteers for all areas of youth and children’s ministry programs and events.
- Maintains a yearly events calendar, to be updated quarterly, and promotes these events through various church communications, including on social media, church-wide communications, and emails to families.
- Develops an annual budget and manages spending to ensure expenses are within the budget limits.
- Organizes youth-led and children-led fundraisers in advance of mission trips or other activities requiring fees not budgeted.
- Ensures Ministry Safe policies are adhered to at all times to protect the safety of the children and youth.
- Acts as a liaison/contact with the CFMC Preschool to ensure events are communicated for all programs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Feels called to work with children and youth to help them grow in their faith.
- Strong commitment to the general mission, purpose, and vision of Clarkesville First Methodist Church.
- Genuine and contagious heart for God and a desire to grow in his or her faith.
- Completed at least two years of college.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Positive and enthusiastic.
- Ability to create plans, recruit and utilize volunteers, and execute with limited supervision.
- Satisfy requirements of Ministry Safe, including background check.
