Position Summary: The Vice President, Marketing & Development is for a supported position. Working in partnership with the President, creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to: (1) maintain/increase the giving of current donors; (2), develop other fundraising strategies which may include capital campaigns, major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, special event fundraising and in-kind resources to support MFI’s work – all to be accomplished within the framework of MFI’s stated mission and vision.  


Essential Functions:

·        Responsible for overseeing the department’s staff members

·        Develop and oversee the planning and execution of capital campaigns and other major fundraising efforts

·        Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate these relationships

·        Oversee the administration of the donor mailing list and database with respect to the privacy and confidentiality of donor information

·        Ensure the design, printing and distribution of all promotional activities and materials are produced for fundraising efforts

·        Ensure MFI maintains a vibrant and timely gift recognition program

·        Oversees and ensures MFI’s social media marketing activities meet established objectives

·        Coordinates in-kind and/or non-cash gifts and makes decisions regarding the issuing of receipts for same

·        Ensure on-going communications are maintained with private and corporate donors

·        Ensure that timely and accurate reports are available to ensure MFI’s fundraising activities are on target

·        Engage volunteers to assist with special fundraising efforts

·        Collaborate with MFI staff on the management and planning of fundraising activities

·        Provide on-going training for MFI staff and the Board of Directors as to their role in fundraising

·        Perform other duties as needed or assigned


Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

·        Bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of fundraising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

·        Strong working knowledge of fundraising software and databases as well as MS Office (primarily Word and Excel)

·        Strong, demonstrated customer service, communication, writing and interpersonal skills as well as proven ability to develop solid donor relationships


Physical Requirements

·        Requires the ability to safely travel via car or plane

·        Ability to see/hear clearly

·        Will sit at desk for up to 60% of a day working on computer/phone

·        Minimal stooping, bending, reaching or lifting (10 pounds or less)
