Cross Lane Community Church is a non-denominational congregation in Terre Haute, Indiana, with a typical attendance of 450. We minister to over 85 children on average spanning preschool to 6th grade.
Children’s Director is a full-time position with benefits described below.
Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Equipping and Oversight:
- Recruit, equip, and retain children’s ministry volunteers.
- Create and organize volunteer training and development.
- Clearly communicate expectations and needs to volunteer.
- Inquire of any expectations or needs from volunteers.
- Bimonthly scheduling and weekly coordination of: teachers/helpers, lessons, and supplies for children’s ministry activities.
- Discipleship and Care of Children:
- Ensure that all programming works to bring children closer to Christ and gain a deeper understanding of Christ as well as their responsibilities as members of God’s church. The main venues for this discipleship ministry are:
- Sunday morning classes.
- Wednesday night classes.
- Specialized events throughout the year.
- Advocate for children and families during regularly planned church leadership and elder meetings.
- Regularly evaluate and select appropriate curriculum with the freedom to create an original curriculum. Curriculum will include worship, lessons, and activities.
- Pastoral care and visitation as needed.
- Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to family and ministry relationships.
- Plan and Carryout Outreach Strategies for Families within our Community:
- Carry out evangelism ministry to families with children primarily through:
- Special activities and events that engage believers and nonbelievers within the community at large and within the congregation.
- Coordinate with Terre Town Elementary School to assist in areas in which they have a need.
- Coordinate with and volunteer with Kids’ Hope.
- Organize and carry out volunteer/service opportunities with children and their families as appropriate.
- Personal Spiritual Growth:
- Maintain holy living, a strong prayer life, and continued study holding into account James 3:1 as a standard.
- Willing to be mentored and guided by Senior Pastor and/or Elders as needed.
- Continue education through seminars, conferences, or collegiate courses as needed or directed.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Participate in weekly staff meetings by advising of future plans and programs, offering encouragement and feedback, and advising of future absences.
- Participate in quarterly elder meetings.
- Coordinate with or assist fellow church leaders with the planning and execution of church-wide and/or community special events when needed or directed.
- Develop a yearly budget and maintain the budget by recording and reporting expenses throughout the year.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Baptized believer with clear theological beliefs that are consistent with Cross Lane Community Church’s Statement of Beliefs: https://clcchurch.com/about/our-beliefs .
- Demonstrated experience working with children and/or families.
- Experience in planning and implementing ministries, lessons, or presentations.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with children and adults.
- Must pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
- Must hold a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in children’s ministry.
- College certificate or degree in Christian Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, or Elementary Education.
