Job Description

This job description provides a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities and duties expected of the CHS Campus Audio Engineer, emphasizing their role in in creating an environment that supports and enhances the worship experience through excellent audio production. This person is responsible for managing all aspects of audio for worship services, special events, and rehearsals, ensuring clarity, balance, and quality in every sound environment within the church.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


Live Audio Mixing:

Operate FOH console during worship services and events, ensuring balanced audio for both in-person and livestream audiences. Ability to understand and execute mixing for a multi-site cloud based streaming church from a central Dante network based church.


Sound Check & Rehearsals:

Coordinate with worship team, pastors, and speakers for pre-service sound checks. Set proper monitor mixes and address feedback issues.


System Setup & Maintenance:

Setup microphones, DI boxes, monitors, and other gear as needed. Maintain and troubleshoot all audio equipment and infrastructure.


Recording & Streaming Support:

Assist in recording services and ensure audio quality for livestream and post-production needs.


Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the worship team, video techs, and other worship/production staff and volunteers to ensure seamless worship and event experiences.


Volunteer Training:

Train and mentor volunteers on how to operate audio equipment effectively and confidently.


Event Support:

Provide audio support for other church-related events as needed. (Leader nights, weddings, funerals, youth events, etc.)


Flexibility and Adaptability:

Understand that "ongoing change" is part of Awaken Church and be willing to move and grow with that vision.


SKILL, ABILITY & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience mixing live audio (church experience preferred).

• Proficiency with digital mixing consoles (e.g., Allen & Heath, Behringer X32, etc.).

• Understanding of signal flow, EQ, compression, and effects.

• Familiarity with DAWs (e.g., Logic, Pro Tools) and streaming platforms.

• Good ear for music and speech clarity.

• Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and adapt quickly during live events.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Heart for worship and a servant-leader mindset.
