Position Summary
The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader and overseer of FBC Groveland. This individual will provide pastoral leadership in preaching, teaching, vision casting, shepherding, and administration. The ideal candidate will have a deep love for Jesus Christ, a commitment to the authority of Scripture, and a passion for making disciples both within and outside the church walls.
Primary Responsibilities
● Preaching & Teaching: Deliver expository (textual) sermons with strong, practical, and clear application that help the congregation grow in faith and action.
● Visionary Leadership: Lead the church in developing and implementing a God-honoring vision for ministry and outreach, including being willing to initiate and guide change where needed.
● Shepherding: Build authentic relationships with members of the congregation and encourage relational connection among church members.
● Discipleship & Evangelism: Equip and empower members to grow spiritually and engage in personal evangelism and discipleship—especially young families and new believers.
● Leadership Development: Mentor and guide ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers in alignment with the church's mission and values.
● Administration: Oversee church operations in cooperation with elders, deacons, and ministry teams to ensure effective stewardship of resources and ministries.
● Community Engagement: Represent FBC Groveland in the community, seeking opportunities to build relationships and serve in Christ’s name.
Qualifications & Preferences
● A clear, personal testimony of salvation through Jesus Christ.
● A life of integrity, spiritual maturity, and a deep commitment to the authority of God’s Word.
● A completed seminary education (preferred). We will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
● Married (preferred).
● 5–10 years of pastoral experience in a local church setting (preferred).
● Strong expository preacher with the ability to apply biblical truths in a clear and practical way.
● Demonstrated ability to build genuine relationships with congregants and encourage a culture of community and connection.
● Willingness to evaluate and implement changes to strengthen the church and its ministries.
● Experience ministering to young families and new Christians (preferred).
● Ordained (or willing to be ordained) and aligned with Baptist doctrine and theology.
● A Bachelors in Biblical studies, theology, or related field, or MDiv., DMin., or similar degree.
● A heart for reaching the lost and discipling believers of all ages.

About FBC Groveland
First Baptist Church Groveland is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation located in the heart of Groveland, Florida, around 30 miles outside of Orlando. We’re a close-knit and growing church family, with an average Sunday attendance of around 120 people. With a rich heritage of faithful ministry and a deep love for our community, we exist to glorify God by making disciples who love God, love others, and serve the world. As we look to the future, we are prayerfully seeking a servant-hearted and visionary Lead Pastor to shepherd our congregation, equip the saints for ministry, and lead us in fulfilling the Great Commission.
