Worship Minister

Jefferson Christian Church is located in a rural, yet fast-growing area, just north of Winston-Salem, NC. We have a tremendous opportunity to reach new families for Jesus and are excited for that opportunity! We exist to know Jesus and make Him known (Matthew 28:18–20), by loving God and loving people (Matthew 22:37–39). Our worship gatherings are Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and focused on leading people into God’s presence through modern worship with occasional, meaningful hymns.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Assist others in taking their next step of faith by enhancing the worship experience through music and drawing people into God’s presence through powerful worship. Lead and shepherd worship teams, overseeing all aspects of planning and execution to ensure that worship aligns with Jefferson Christian Church’s mission and vision. Communicate effectively with worship team volunteers and other supporting volunteers, and contribute to the worship arts creative process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead engaging, Spirit-filled worship experiences in a modern style, occasionally incorporating hymns when appropriate.
• Play and lead from an instrument (guitar or keyboard preferred).
• Foster smooth service flow and transitions.
• Recruit, train, and shepherd musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers.
• Schedule and oversee rehearsals.
• Encourage a culture of humility, excellence, and unity.
• Select songs that are theologically sound and Christ-focused.
• Ensure the worship aligns with the sermon theme.
• Build out click and, as necessary, tracks in Loop Community for each service.
• Develop and manage the Worship Ministry budget.
• Identify and integrate emerging church technologies to enhance worship and ministry operations.
• Coordinate with the tech team to ensure quality audio, visuals, and streaming.
• Expand the leadership base of the ministry by identifying, inspiring, and developing future worship leaders.
• Manage Planning Center. Ensure that materials for the band are online at the appropriate time.
• Provide strong spiritual and musical direction/leadership of the band and vocal volunteers during rehearsals.
• Lead by example in prayer, worship, and daily walk with Christ.
• Disciple team members spiritually as well as musically.
• Build Christ-centered relationships with: Staff, Church Board, Volunteers, and Congregation.
• Create an environment that supports feedback, opinions, and ideas from those in and around the ministry, as well as a culture that regularly seeks God and celebrates wins. Evaluate worship services. Solicit feedback from teams and trusted congregants.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist with general ministry. Support the overall spiritual and emotional health of the congregation by assisting with Pastoral Care, community events, and discipleship.

Qualifications:

• A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Unreservedly hold to the Church's statement of beliefs. (Restoration Movement/Independent Christian Church)
• Practice the Church's approach to ministry.
• Embody the Church's culture.
• Proven ability to lead worship in a modern/contemporary style.
• Skilled in vocals and at least one instrument (guitar/keyboard preferred).
• Strong understanding of sound, lighting, and livestream technology.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Be authentic and joyful.
• Be loving toward people, prioritizing others ahead of themselves, and fostering trust from those that they lead.
• Be inspiring and motivate others to sacrifice for God.
• Humble, teachable, and team-oriented heart.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior worship leadership in a church setting.
• Familiarity with Planning Center, ProPresenter, and other church tech tools.
• Experience discipling and mentoring worship team members.

Our church is multi-generational, but with a concentration of young families. Our worship services are modern, but with an occasional hymn.
